My goal is to create a warm, welcoming environment where you feel comfortable to share your concerns. Body-image concerns and body-dysmorphia can be quite distressing and you're not alone. Your needs are important to me, and together we can explore those concerns, better understand the influences that have played a role in your experiences, and discover therapeutic goals and strategies that genuinely resonate with you.

Poor self esteem and body image are often paired with self worth. Bodies can go through changes throughout our lifetime, learning to accept ourselves as we are, knowing that things do change.

Are you so preoccupied with your body image that it affects your adjustment in different domains of your life? Does it bring down your self-esteem and cause you discomfort? Do you find it difficult to accept your body as it is? I believe you can benefit from therapy by developing a level of comfort with your own body.

Positive body image has nothing to do with how you look, it’s about accepting your body as is, not trying to change it, not forcing it to be thinner or fitter before you can like it and treating yourself well no matter what. “You are not your body”

Body image concerns can have a significant impact on someone’s wellbeing. Addressing body image in therapy will allow you to explore the origins of these concerns, the narratives that uphold these concerns and how these concerns impact you, and how you want to feel about your body moving forward. Therapy, with me, will be a safe space where you can explore the different emotions associated with these concerns and find ways to develop self-compassion and an alternate story that allows you to have the relationship you want with your body. Schedule a free consultation with me to see if we are a good fit.

How do you see yourself in the mirror or in your mind? Are you happy with that image?
Counselling is beneficial for addressing body image issues. Together, we will actively confront your negative thought patterns and find better ways to cope with and manage them. Most importantly, we are going to explore the key factors that influence your thoughts and self-perception. This is a safe place to practice self-love and acceptance.

Having a good relationship with your body is such a challenge for so many. I know the journey well.
I work with many tools to facilitate a transformation the way a person perceives themselves.
Developing a friendly relationship with your body takes work especially if the messaging in childhood was not healthy.
We dig into the family-culture to fully unpack and understand it. We look at the self doubt, the inner self talk and the habits of self shame. I often will have clients do home exercises in between therapy sessions.
Here is an example... I have found this exercise game changing for me and for many of my clients.
Try an experiment of no longer looking in the mirror at parts of your body that lead you to deeply criticize yourself which then impacts your self esteem in negative ways. Even if you're the most amazing human being in the world, if you engage in a lot of mirror time that's all about self criticism your self-value will no longer be based on your inner value, it'll be all based on that body part that you loathe. Change your mirror time! Do it for a couple months and see how your self esteem changes. This is an experiment that I did that was highly successful and I share this with clients and they have found it very successful in terms of how they now feel about themselves and their self value.. Change your relationship to how you look at yourself in the mirror now!
