Women's Issues

Emina Hendricks, CareWay.ca

Registered Psychotherapist, M.Ed., R.P.
What do I need? What do I want? If these questions seem "selfish" and are difficult to answer then you may be a woman who has been socialized to put everyone else's needs first. At CareWay, we can work toward answering "What do I need?" with an open heart, free of guilt or self-criticism. This is self-care. Using counselling and psychotherapy strategies, CareWay accompanies women as they go through all of life's transitions, helping to carve a path of self-compassion through life's journey.

Women's Issues

Nora Taylor, MA, RP

Registered Psychotherapist, Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology 1994
I completed my dissertation in 1996 while living in California; the topic of my paper was Women's Experience of the Descent into the Unconscious. Descent means a drop into the unconscious where we can experience a shattering or unravelling of our inner structure or identity. This inner collapse is usually experienced as a crisis and is mirrored in the external world as our life falls apart. This can leave us bereft of any sense of stability or sense of self. It can be abrupt or a slow unravelling that takes place over time where we notice a loss in vitality and spontaneity and increasing levels of depression and/or anxiety. Unrecognized and unattended, it can lead to feelings of hopelessness, a loss of confidence and increasing difficulties coping with life.
