I am a Registered Psychotherapist serving individuals, couples, and families in Ontario. Since starting my practice here in Ontario, I have been given the privilege of helping clients overcome their relationship struggles and move forward with their lives. I work collaboratively to set goals with clients, helping them resolve personal problems, conflict in the family, and more. My services are available in two languages: English and Russian. Apart from locals, I also serve immigrants from Eastern and Central Europe, Russia, and other countries. Equine Therapy can help individuals and families build confidence, self -efficiency, communication, trust, social skills, impulse control and learn healthy boundary setting. Horses are great therapists because they give immediate feedback. Research shows positive physical and psychological results from humans interacting with horses. These include, but are not limited to , decreased blood pressure and heart rate, lower levels of stress, reduced feelings of tension, anxiety, anger and hostility, as well as increased levels of beta-endorphins, and beneficial feelings of self -esteem, empowerment, patience and trust. Often clients experiencing anxiety and ocd have difficulty relating to other human beings, and will not accept closeness with another, but they will with horses. There is a bond that develops over time with equine - assisted therapy that is profound and natural . This bond helps with affection, assertiveness, confidence , empathy,self-control, responsibility, unconditional acceptance. This type of therapy is experiential and provides opportunities for metaphorical learning. Using metaphors , either in activities or discussion, is an effective technique for working with individuals. Non-verbal communication with a Horse helps clients better understand themselves and how they relate with others in the world. Equine-assisted therapy is psychodrama, which allows action to help heal the past, clarify the situation in the present, and help you envision a brighter future.
