My approach to loss and grief provides a compassionate space to honor your feelings, navigate the pain of loss, and gently find a path forward towards healing and acceptance.
Losing someone close to us can be among the most painful of life experiences. An example of one of my approaches to working with grieving clients involves learning how to live with the pain and loss along with finding ways to honor the life and memory of the bereaved. However, grief is a largely personal process, with many different types of loss that each require their own unique approach and attentiveness depending on what feels best for clients during this most vulnerable time. Grief is LOVE with nowhere to go. Dealing with grief and loss, anger management, abuse, pet loss support, trauma, and addictions are some of life's greatest and most painful challenges. No amount of education or degrees can provide the same connection to another person, than experience! Having been through my fair share of grief and trauma from an early age is the reason I went into the field of psychology. I am a human being before a psychotherapist. My greatest teacher was pain and my greatest lesson was that love eventually heals all things; and time finds a way to make scars bearable. You learn to see them as memories marked forever on your skin. You learn to live imperfectly- after all, a perfect life does not exist.
Registered Psychotherapist, Master's in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy
I have been training in a psychoeducative approach for overcoming different phases of grief through enabling clients to overcome resistance towards their grief, and effectively go through the difficult emotions.
Grief is a profound part of our emotional landscape, intricately woven into the fabric of our lives. It's a testament to our ability to connect with our deepest selves. When we allow ourselves to experience grief, it's an acknowledgment of the importance of what we've lost. It's a reminder of the depth of our love, the value of our connections, and the authenticity of our emotions. In therapy, we can explore this integral part of your journey, using it as a gateway to self-discovery and healing. In our sessions, we'll navigate the stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, sadness, and acceptance. I offer a compassionate, judgment-free space for you to process your emotions and find the strength to heal. You're not alone, and I'm here to guide you on your path to understanding and recovery.
I, like many of us, am no stranger to the feelings of grief and loss and I am aware of how deeply unique and personal these experiences can be. The way that I imagine being part of your journey through these moments is by holding your hand and walking through this unknown path together, while discovering new aspects and meanings of the self along the way. I will check in with you to ensure that we are walking this path on a pace that is most suitable for you, for there is no need to rush during this time.
