CHRISTIE BAUR PSYCHOTHERAPY

Navigating life as an LGBTQ+ person can come with unique challenges—identity exploration, family dynamics, relationships, societal pressures, or simply the need for a space where you don’t have to explain or defend who you are. Whether you’re questioning, coming out, healing from past experiences, or looking for support in living authentically, you deserve a therapist who understands and affirms your identity. In therapy, I offer a safe, nonjudgmental space where all identities, orientations, and expressions are respected and celebrated. Together, we’ll explore what you’re facing with compassion and clarity—whether it’s anxiety, relationship stress, self-acceptance, or the impact of invalidating environments. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania therapist: Erika Barrington, licensed professional counselor
LGBTQ+ Issues

Erika Barrington

Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, BC-DMT
I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, and because of how I've felt in my own therapy over the years, it has always been a priority to me to make sure I'm offering an affirming space for this community. I spent time working as a peer counselor in my local LGBTQIA+ community center and was a supervisor there for a short time; worked as a camp counselor for trans youth; completed a year-long training program on offering trans-affirming care in therapy. I do utilize my own experience to understand what clients might be feeling and needing, but its also important to me to value the way that sexuality and gender are diverse experiences based on race, class, country of origin, culture, and so many other factors. I never assume that my experience will be just the same as someone else, and keep an eye out for the ways that my privilege might have insulated me as a queer, genderqueer person. I believe that our society's restrictive/oppressive views about sexuality and gender are impacted by patriarchy, white supremacy, and capitalism, so I hold this truth when understanding how a client may have internalized certain beliefs, and where the responsibility lies. For example, I would not ever blame a client for internalized homophobia, transphobia, but instead bring curiosity to environment, historical trends, and how we can work towards more internal liberation.

Narberth, Pennsylvania therapist: Michelle Bloom, PsyD, psychologist
LGBTQ+ Issues

Michelle Bloom, PsyD

Psychologist, PsyD, PsyPact
I believe that identity in all its manifestations is on a spectrum, not a binary, and that one of the goals for creating a meaningful life is finding and developing healthy love for self and others. Who we love, how we love, and how we define ourselves in terms of gender and sexuality and how we communicate that to ourselves and others can be a beautiful, freeing process. I wish to help my clients embrace, celebrate, and express their identity.

Landenberg, Pennsylvania therapist: Maria T. Alonso, Ph.D., psychologist
LGBTQ+ Issues

Maria T. Alonso, Ph.D.

Psychologist
In my work with LGBTQ+ individuals in psychotherapy, I strive to create a warm and supportive environment where clients can explore and embrace their authentic selves. I understand the unique challenges they may face, such as issues related to gender identity, sexual orientation, navigating relationships, and experiences of discrimination. By using a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I help clients address these concerns while affirming their identity and experiences. I custom tailor therapy to meet each person where they are at, recognizing and valuing their individual history and circumstances. Whether it's processing feelings of uncertainty, building self-esteem, or developing strategies to handle discrimination, my goal is to support clients in living fully and confidently as their true selves, empowering them to build meaningful and fulfilling lives.
