Dr. Matthew Clyde
Psychologist, PhD
Grief is not a linear process with an expiration date; it is a deep, personal response to the loss of a loved one, a relationship, or even a dream. It can feel like an overwhelming wave that crashes without warning. Therapy offers a safe harbor to process the pain of loss at your own pace. Together, we honor what was lost while slowly finding ways to carry your grief more lightly and eventually reintegrate into a meaningful life.

Barbara Freedman
Counsellor/Therapist, M.Ed., OAMHP(Ontario Association of Mental Health Professionals)
Recovery through an experiential means of grieving is essential in that one cannot get over the heartbreak until they allow themselves to feel it. Experiential focused techniques involve fully experiencing our emotions and unmet needs, in effort to transcend this pain. One of my most unique specialties focus on Survivors of Suicide(S.O.S), I am a trained Survivors of Suicide(S.O.S), facilitator who has previously co-facilitated this group, for those who are grieving the loss of a family member or loved one by suicide. One of the complexities of mourning a suicide involves the additional shock of a sudden death, in which the bereaved may not feel they had the chance to ask or say what they needed to. The second tier of this grief involves a violent death. Many mourners suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, particularly if they have discovered the body. This often adds to a sense of sur-realness or not fitting in with the rest of grieving society. The support system of survivors of suicide may be weaker than those afflicted with other types of mourning. Loved ones may pull away due to their own sense of helplessness and discomfort, leaving them with a further sense of isolation and loss. Survivors require guidance regarding how to talk to their children about the manner in which their loved one died. Due to the many complexities of this process, survivors of suicide may get stuck in any particular phase of grief or take much longer to complete them. As a result of all these special challenges, survivors of suicide require enough safety to share their story with others, whom they feel can understand the uniqueness of their pain. This is a particularly special and complicated grieving process which I believe requires the specific training and experience which I offer to clinically assist those who are in this category of mourners.
