Treatment Approach
- Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
- Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Dance / Movement Therapy Uses movement and body awareness to express emotions and improve mental health. It can increase confidence, reduce stress, and support healing.
- Developmental Therapy Looks at how childhood and developmental experiences affect current challenges. It aims to repair unmet needs and foster healthy growth.
- Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
- Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
- Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
- Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
Approach Description: A focus on the cognitive and behaviours helps manage problems by changing the way we engage with them.
By externalizing the issues we can also develop a healthier narrative by identifying the values and the skills we have. Art can help you visually represent how you are feeling. Images, colours and shapes can be seen as an alternate form of communication that could help further define the thoughts and feelings that you might find difficult to articulate.

It can be hard to find the right words to explain how you are feeling. It can be even harder to share them out loud. When the words do come out, it might not come out the way you want to. This can be a frustrating and isolating experience. Words are powerful. How you use them can impact the way you communicate with yourself and others. Words can affect your thought process, your behaviour and physical reaction. By identifying your wants and needs, you will gain a greater understanding about yourself and the relationships you have with others.
