Object Relations Therapy

Dr. Ashwin Mehra

Psychologist, PhD, CPsych
Growth and healing are choices we can make. If you are reading this, you have already taken an important first step. You may be wondering whether therapy can help you take the next ones. Those steps might lead toward relief from distress, clearer direction, healthier relationships, better emotional regulation, insight into long-standing patterns, healing from the past, or movement toward meaningful personal goals. Each person begins therapy with unique hopes and expectations. My role is to support you in moving toward what matters most to you. I offer an integrative, individualized approach to therapy rather than a one-size-fits-all model. I earned my PhD in Clinical Psychology from St. John’s University in New York City through an integrative program that emphasized both depth and breadth of training. My clinical experience in New York and Toronto has provided me with extensive exposure to diverse populations and a wide range of psychological concerns. I work across the lifespan from children, adolescents, adults, to seniors and provide individual, couples, family, group, and parenting therapy, depending on what best fits a client’s needs. I have also conducted comprehensive psychological assessments evaluating cognitive functioning, personality structure, learning disabilities, and emotional or behavioral concerns. This breadth of experience allows me to approach each case with nuance, balance, and clinical depth. Please call for a free consultation!

New York City, New York therapist: Dr. Stéphanie Gamache, PhD, hypnotherapist
Object Relations Therapy

Dr. Stéphanie Gamache, PhD

Hypnotherapist, PhD
Something in you knows that what you're carrying runs deeper than the presenting problem. Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and outwardly composed-yet internally they live with anxiety, depression, chronic tension or pain, relentless self-criticism, or a sense that something essential is blocked, muted, or just out of reach. These struggles may surface in mood, in the body, in behavior, or in relationships-including sexuality and intimacy-but they are rarely contained to any one area. They tend to reflect deeper emotional and relational patterns formed early in life, often before language, that continue to shape how a person approaches closeness, vulnerability, agency, pleasure, and self-expression. My work centers on how early experience shapes the capacity for self-regulation, desire, connection, and meaning throughout life-and particularly on how people come to know what they need and want, how they learn to express or inhibit those impulses, and what happens when these capacities become conflicted, constricted, or difficult to sustain. I integrate psychoanalytic hypnotherapy, somatic awareness, and clinical sexology within a reflective, depth-oriented process. Hypnosis functions as a central clinical tool-creating conditions for deeper internal contact with emotional, bodily, and unconscious experience that can be difficult to reach through conversation alone. The aim is not only relief from symptoms, but the development of a more coherent and compassionate relationship with one's inner life: sensations, emotions, impulses, and desires. This work is oriented toward lasting psychological change-and toward greater freedom in how one relates to oneself, one's body, and one's capacity for connection, authenticity, and vitality. It is best suited to those ready to move beyond symptom management toward something more fundamental.

Margot Hovey

Counsellor/Therapist, CCC (In process)
I’m embracing Eldership in my counselling practice: individuals, dyads, and families through transitions and challenges. Completing the M.A. Counselling Psychology program, I’m a deep listener and provide authentic feedback. During our conversation your life story, influences, and challenges emerge. We’ll collaborate on how to best shape the life you want to lead. With a Ph.D. Integral Studies, my previous work focused on facilitating inclusion – racial, cultural, age, life stages, sexual and gender identity in our communities. Integral counselling weaves mind, body, and spirit into healing. I bring a deep appreciation of wholeness to our work. Arising from lived family experience of becoming multiracial, embracing LGBTQ+, caregiving and mental illness, I’m called to work with seniors and families in transition. Shifts in family circumstances (illness, death, relocation, diagnosis, divorce, identity, dementia, retirement, renewal) affect the living family system. I witness and support your process.
