Julia Symons

Psychologist, Registered psychologist - BSc, Grad. Dip. App. Psych
Perimenopause and menopause, increased caregiving responsibilities, re-evaluating relationships, career transitions, burnout, questioning meaning and purpose - some or all these can characterise midlife for women. While this time of life can be challenging, it can also offer opportunities for self-discovery and growth. I'm a psychologist with many years of experience and a special interest in working with women navigating midlife and beyond. I aim to provide a space where you can express yourself freely, and assist you to deepen your understanding of yourself and make changes that are meaningful to you. Midlife can be time that facilitates a deeper connection with your authentic self, alongside renewed confidence and purpose. It would be a privilege to support you in this process. The Psychology Hub

Psychologist, Clinical Psychologists, General Psychologists, Educational & Developmental Psychologists, Mental Health and Disability Social Workers, Counsellors, Art Therapists
Most people get in touch at the point where something has been going on long enough that they want a clear answer. We try to make that first step straightforward. The Psychology Hub is a multidisciplinary practice at North Lakes in North Brisbane. Our team includes clinical psychologists, general psychologists, educational and developmental psychologists, mental health and disability social workers, counsellors and art therapists. That range matters, because it means we can usually match you to someone whose training fits what you are actually dealing with, rather than to whoever happens to be free. We work with babies and infants through to older adults, in clinic and online across every Australian state and territory. Appointments run from 8am to 8pm by arrangement, which helps when work or school makes daytime sessions difficult. Alongside therapy we provide diagnostic assessments for autism, ADHD, learning disorders, intellectual functioning and adaptive functioning. You do not need a GP referral to book an assessment. Every assessment starts with a 90-minute appointment, which is the first part of the assessment itself. By the end of it your practitioner knows what your assessment needs to involve and gives you a written quote for the rest, tailored to you rather than a standard package.

Perth, Western Australia therapist: Michael Elwan, registered social worker
Serving LGBTQ+

Michael Elwan

Registered Social Worker, PhD Candidate (Mental Health), MSW, GradCertMH, DipPsych, MBA
Hi, I’m Michael, known as Mick. I offer online EMDR and counselling for adults, alongside couples therapy, in English and Arabic. You may be looking for help with a particular experience, or noticing that anxiety, grief, self-doubt or relationship difficulties keep returning. Perhaps you understand some of what is happening but still find it difficult to respond differently. We begin by exploring what troubles you, how it affects daily life and what you want from therapy. I am an Accredited Social Worker and the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) Social Worker of the Year 2025. My practice brings together professional training, attention to culture and relationships, and lived experience of caregiving, migration and suicide bereavement. There is room to discuss family expectations, identity, faith and responsibilities alongside your emotional wellbeing. You do not need to leave those parts of your life outside the conversation. I work collaboratively and welcome questions about the approach, the pace and whether our sessions are helping. We review what you need as the work develops.
