Psychologist, Masters in Clinical Psychology, Ph.D.
We have recently developed a whole arm of the practice devoted to child and family issues (psychstuff4kids). At this practice we work with a focus on the whole family system. Anxiety is the most common problem in children but we are also often asked to help with school refusal, autism spectrum issues and anger management. In adolescence, anxiety remains prevalent but we also see an depression, self-harm urges and body and eating issues. We have the skilled psychologists and the knowledge to help you to help your kids.
Children and adolescents are increasingly the focus of concern for many adults, including their parents and other key family members or friend. We have staff who specialise in working with particular age groups, from pre-schoolers (when the adults caring for the child are key people included in the therapy) through to older adolescents whose needs for independence are often needing to be balanced with responsibility and risk. Good therapy provided for these age groups can set the individual up for successful relationships into the future and promote their ability to seek further support as required into the future.
I have worked young people & their families since the beginning of my career & I am passionate about supporting this age group. I recognise the importance of working within an MDT framework, using trauma informed practice & working closely with families and significant others. For me, adolescence is such an important time for mental health support because it is the last opportunity before adulthood for creating change pathways. I believe it is vital to utilise the brain elasticity of adolesence (whenever possible) to give young people the best start to adulthood they can have.
