Dr. Hiyaguha Cohen
Counselor/Therapist, Ph.D., LPCA, MA, MFA
EMDR has been proven effective in reducing the symptoms of PTSD. It's possible to benefit from EMDR without having to talk at length about your trauma, and without having to re-experience it mentally. With EMDR, we spend as much time replacing haunting memories with positive images as we do dismantling the effects of the trauma.

Jean Moree
Counselor/Therapist, LPC, NCC, CCTS-I
The approaches I use with PTSD include: Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and Written Exposure Therapy (WET) as well as other trauma-focused interventions.
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is an evidenced-based, efficient therapy for PTSD and other psychiatric conditions. It is derived from Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). The NREPP (National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices), a subsidiary of SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration), determined that accelerated resolution therapy is an effective form of treatment for PTSD.
Written Exposure Therapy (WET) is recommended as a first-line treatment for PTSD in the VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guideline for Managing PTSD and it is listed as an emerging recommended treatment in the International Society for the Study of Traumatic Stress (ISTSS) guideline.

Therapist, LPC-A, PMH-C
The most common treatment for trauma I use is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) therapy. EMDR is a well-researched modality that lessens the impact of traumatic memories through bilateral stimulation.

Gayle MacBride
Psychologist, PhD, LP
Treating trauma has been a specialty of mine for almost 15 years. I mostly use Cognitive Processing Therapy to understand the impact trauma has had on you and your life and then we use skills to address the thoughts that are keeping you stuck in old patterns. We will talk about important themes like safety, trust, power/control, esteem, and intimacy as a part of your trauma patterns. Changing how you think about trauma can help you get unstuck and live in more peaceful ways.
