Trauma and PTSD can have a significant impact on an individual's mental health, relationships, and overall quality of life. If you or a loved one has experienced trauma, know that you are not alone. At my counseling practice, I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma and are struggling with symptoms of PTSD.
My approach to trauma and PTSD is grounded in evidence-based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR). Through these modalities, I provide a safe and supportive space for clients to process their traumatic experiences, gain a deeper understanding of their symptoms, and develop coping strategies for managing symptoms in everyday life.
I understand that trauma can impact every area of a person's life, and I work collaboratively with clients to address their unique needs and goals. Whether you are struggling with flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety, or avoidance behaviors, I am here to support you on your journey towards healing and recovery.

My belief is that traumatic experiences can profoundly alter an individual’s physical, emotional, and psychological well-being. I use various techniques to help better understand how my client's experiences have impacted their lives and the problems they are currently trying to understand and resolve for themselves.
Trauma impacts every area of our lives - how we see ourselves, others and the world. It can destroy our sense of safety, trust, esteem, intimacy, and power/control. We create stories that are untrue and cause ourselves pain. I enjoy adding Expressive Arts Therapy to Cognitive Processing Therapy. Expressive arts can be a way to express oneself non-verbally which has helped many clients access their connection to their body and emotions. Trauma creates a disconnect from the mind and body. Almost as if we become a floating head. I have witnessed several clients reconnect to their feelings and body through keeping an art journal and sharing in session. In addition, overtime they were able to access their own insight and inner wisdom. Working on trauma is scary for many people. There is no pressure to follow a prescribed course or use art. I understand how difficult it is to share the story and trust a new therapist. I work at a client's comfort level and pace.
We live in a fast-paced environment under pressure to succeed and keep up. As we enter each transition, we embody different roles from parenthood, sibling, caretaker, employee and the list goes on. Life quickly becomes busy with many stressors, challenges and endless to-do lists. We quickly become our own self-critic.
I bring an empathetic and safe environment where together, you and I create the real meaning behind your symptoms and begin to create a road map to achieve the healing you are striving for. You will learn many tools, among learning how to practice self-compassion, especially during these times! We will work together to reframe thinking and reactions and explore tools to better cope with life’s challenges. I specialize in helping dealing with:
Life transitions
Anxiety
Depression
Childhood PTSD
Relationship issues
Feeling lost
Grief + Loss
You don’t talk much about that day, but it still upsets you. That traumatic experience has infected all the other parts of your life. You find yourself avoiding situations and people that remind you of it. It’s getting to the point that your spending most of your life avoiding things. And that memory hurts. Sometimes you feel like your broken, and wonder if your life will ever feel “normal” again. You’ve tried to talk to family, but they can’t do much more than lend a sympathetic ear. And you’ve been to therapy, but you just talked about the trauma over and over, and that didn’t really seem to help anything. So is this it?
When I work with clients struggling with trauma I use an intervention called Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). While I could tell you all the neuroscience, what really happens in EMDR is we drain all of the emotions from your traumatic memory and install a positive belief about yourself.
Through EMDR we help you finally recover from the past. You can discard the negative beliefs about yourself that traumatic experience made you believe, and you can recapture a healthy and positive life. You need a trusted guide to help you through your trauma, and I can help. Call today to schedule a free initial 15 minute consultation.
