Nathan Duff
Licensed Professional Counselor, M.Ed., LPC (CCTP, CYMHS, C-DBT, C-PD)
I realize it might be a bit odd for a male therapist to select women's issues as a "specialty," and I did debate it for a bit. I have to say though, the bulk of my experience is with women and teen girls. Some of that has been due to some niche situations, such as my work with trauma (I'm certified in trauma - CCTP) which has brought me many female survivors, teens and adults, of female sexual predators, who seem to find my being male somewhat helpful. Also 10 years providing and supervising crisis services has had me working with everything from domestic violence to post-partum suicidality, agoraphobia, self-worth and identity issues, as well as many other things that disproportionately affect women.
I completely understand why some women may feel more comfortable with a female therapist, since I can't share their lived experiences in the same way. However, I hope my commitment to learning, and listening, has given me a deeper understanding of the emotional complexities many women face. I’ve found that working collaboratively with clients allows us to navigate sensitive issues together, making the process more about mutual understanding than assumptions based on gender.

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW/Therapist
They say the last person you spoke with dictates your mood. Time and again you enter a conversation feeling happy and one sideways comment leads to you feeling small and insecure. You stifle the urge to over-explain when a need arises; it feels like there has to be a "good enough" reason to take care of yourself. Absorbing the weight of other people’s problems like they are your own is the norm. And when you make a mistake, it feels like YOU are the mistake- your self-esteem ebbs and flows with your performance. Would shutting down and keeping your distance be better? Connecting healthily with others is becoming too hard.
Whatever you're patterns, you developed them for a really good reason. Allow me to be your guide in discovering the origin of your own patterns, leading you to develop a strong sense of who you are. In our work together, you'll learn to identify what you like, what feels good or bad, and what you need. You deserve to love and be loved in return.
We need boundaries- with others and ourselves. Boundaries allow the good in and keep the bad out. Boundaries allow us to thrive and feel worthy. When you have a skilled professional help you in this area, it is amazing the transformations that can result from this work! Call me now to set up your free consultation, let's get started.
