Ryan Shannon
Counselor/Therapist, LMHCA, MA, MS
Grief can follow the death of someone you love, but it can also emerge after the end of a relationship, a major move, a health change, the loss of a role, or the future you thought you would have. You may feel sadness, anger, guilt, numbness, confusion, or relief, sometimes all within the same day.
My approach is warm, insight-oriented, and practical. Drawing from Adlerian and psychodynamic therapy, we may explore the meaning of the loss, the role this person or experience held in your life, and how earlier experiences with attachment, separation, or abandonment influence the way you are grieving now. There is no correct timeline, and I will not pressure you to move on before you are ready.
I may also use CBT to help you work through painful beliefs involving guilt, responsibility, regret, or hopelessness. Mindfulness and grounding strategies can help you tolerate intense emotions without becoming completely overwhelmed, while solution-focused therapy can help you gradually reconnect with routines, relationships, and sources of meaning.
When a loss was sudden, violent, or traumatic, EMDR may help reduce the emotional intensity of distressing memories or images connected to what happened. Treatment will be paced carefully and adapted to what feels manageable for you.
My goal is not to help you forget the person or experience you lost. It is to help you carry the loss in a way that leaves room for connection, meaning, and life to continue.

Dr. Dawnn R. Meiers
Psychologist, Psy.D.
"There's bounty, yes; but there's loss and sorrow too: like a garden, like a life." This quote from a published collection of letters between two nature-loving poets echoes a life perspective I revisit regularly. In our work together, I'll hold space so you can acknowledge, honor, and process experiences of grief and loss. Because when we open up to the inevitable pain of our human lives, we're also saying yes to the possibility of joy and connection.

Kate Dufek
Counselor/Therapist, MA, LMHC
Grief and loss can be disorienting. My work with folks around these realms isn't geared towards "making the pain go away" but towards being present, and honoring both what has been lost, and your experience.
