Therapist & A Couch is a space rooted in the belief that every part of you belongs. No matter the story someone arrives with, the diagnoses they may carry, or the identities they may hold, we begin with the core human experiences that connect us all — our wishes, fears, wounds, conflicts, patterns, walking contradictions...our messiness. Within these places live the quiet truths that shape who we are. Together, we gently sift through what’s been heavy so you can feel lighter, freer, and more whole.

Delafield, Wisconsin therapist: Lisa Herpolsheimer, licensed clinical social worker
Person-Centered

Lisa Herpolsheimer

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, CCTP-II, C-DBT
My therapeutic style is warm, genuine and engaging; I am well known for my natural ability to build a collaborative, effective, and deeply meaningful therapeutic relationship with my clients. I have 25 years of experiencing providing psychotherapy, and my specialty area is working with emotionally sensitive persons who have difficulty regulating and managing emotions. Most often, the clients I work with have more than one mental health concern at a time that they are seeking treatment for, and they are in need of an advanced-trained specialist due to multiple clinically complex needs. I work with Teens ages 14-18, Young Adults 18-25, and Adults 26 and Over. I provide therapy services either in-person at our beautiful historic Delafield, Wisconsin location at the Wise Mind DBT & CBT Center, or via Secure and Private Telehealth Services. Therapy sessions with me are a blend of therapeutic processing (with a client-centered/strengths-based perspective), which I combine with teaching you the transformative Dialectical Behavior Therapy Skills (DBT) that are relevant to your life in the here and now. The DBT Skills and CBT-Based Techniques that I utilize are designed to help alleviate suffering from emotion regulation/high emotional sensitivity problems, Borderline Personality Disorder, Mood disorders including Anxiety, Depression, and OCD, in addition to other co-occurring mental health disorders. I also provide care to persons with ADHD / neurodivergence care needs. I am advanced-trained and certified to provide effective and compassionate care for persons seeking to recover from psychological trauma, including PTSD and Complex PTSD. You will experience both supportive and validating care in session, while also learning and practicing deeply powerful skills to help you safely manage and experience your emotions. My aim is to provide transformative and effective care for your mental heath symptoms, thus preparing you to take on life's challenges more effectively as they arise in your life out of session. My goal for you is that you Build A Life Worth Living: a life that is meaningful and rewarding for you, a life that brings you peace, joy, and confidence in your resiliency all along the way. Working with me, you will become more able to deeply explore your emotions, learn to gently broaden your perspective on troubling situations, you will be able to access your inherent wisdom and insight into the patterns you have observed in your life, and will develop a renewed sense of confidence and hopefulness as you recover and re-discover your ability to reach the personal life goals that you may have thought were just too far out of reach for you until now. I would be honored to Walk Alongside You on your recovery journey! I also provide a FREE and in-depth Clinical Consultation Call for persons interested in starting therapy with me. The fastest and easiest way to get in contact with me to schedule your free consultation call is to TEXT message me directly, on my private and password-protected secure mobile phone at: (262) 744-5201. I look forward to connecting with you! Lisa

Milwaukee is one of the most racially segregated cities in the United States, and the mental health effects of systemic inequality, concentrated poverty, and community violence disproportionately affect its Black residents — driving demand for culturally affirming and trauma-informed therapists. The city has a strong Polish, German, and working-class heritage in many of its neighborhoods, and therapists frequently address intergenerational family dynamics, addiction, and depression tied to economic stress. Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin provide major institutional mental health resources alongside community-based providers. Milwaukee's proximity to Chicago means some residents also access care in the broader metro corridor.
