Therapy works best when you feel genuinely safe, understood, and able to speak openly. Many of my clients share that one of the most meaningful parts of our work together is not only the practical tools and strategies they gain, but also the sense of connection, honesty, and relief that comes from having a space where they can be real and experience real change. My background includes social work, music therapy, palliative care, oncology, acute mental health, and service in the Canadian Armed Forces. I also bring lived experience with grief, trauma, chronic pain, and adversity, which deeply informs my compassionate and realistic approach. I work with individuals who are often used to “holding it together” on the outside while internally feeling overwhelmed, burned out, disconnected, or stuck in painful patterns. Together, we’ll figure out what actually works for you — not just generic advice. I take the time to understand your strengths, your struggles, and the deeper patterns that may be keeping you stuck so we can approach challenges in a way that feels realistic and meaningful. We can do more than just manage symptoms or get through the day. My goal is to help you build a life that feels worthwhile. Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Behavioral Therapy Uses learning techniques like reinforcement and practice to change unwanted behaviors. It is often applied to phobias, anxiety, and habits.
  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Experiential Therapy Involves hands-on activities to bring emotions into the present moment. It helps clients process feelings more deeply than through conversation alone.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) A structured therapy that uses guided eye movements to help process traumatic memories. It is widely recognized for treating PTSD and trauma-related conditions.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Music Therapy Uses music listening, songwriting, or rhythm exercises to support healing. It is effective for stress, emotional expression, and cognitive challenges.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
  • Transpersonal Therapy Integrates spirituality and higher states of consciousness with psychology. It encourages growth beyond the individual self.
Approach Description: My approach to therapy is compassionate, collaborative, and tailored to the person in front of me. I believe meaningful change happens when you feel safe enough to be honest, understood enough to explore what’s really going on, and supported enough to try new ways of moving forward. I combine practical tools and evidence-informed strategies with genuine human connection. Depending on your needs, this may include building coping skills, improving emotional regulation, exploring deeper patterns, processing trauma, strengthening relationships, or developing a better understanding of yourself and your nervous system. My work is influenced by trauma-informed care, neurodivergent-affirming practice, strengths-based approaches, and creative problem-solving. With a background in both social work and music therapy, I value flexibility and recognize that healing is not one-size-fits-all. Some clients need structure and strategy; others need space, reflection, and deeper emotional processing. Most need both. I strive to create a therapeutic space that is real, supportive, and adaptable — one where you do not have to perform, minimize your struggles, or fit yourself into someone else’s idea of healing. Together, we focus on what actually works for you so that therapy feels meaningful, practical, and connected to the life you want to build.
