Our wounds show up in our relationships — social, professional, intimate, and even with ourselves. Through our work together, I can help you address these wounds at their core so that your healing is deep and profound and leaves a lasting impact. Life will always throw curve balls at you, but you can be stronger and happier from the inside, out — not just on the surface. I've helped many struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, 1st or 2nd-generation immigrant experience, relationship conflict, communication challenges, rebuilding trust and connection, and the complexities of multicultural relationships and the different in-law dynamics and expectations. And if you're not sure what the issue is exactly, I can help you figure that out. I aim to make therapy as impactful as possible while keeping the experience as light as possible by blending warmth with a directness and practicality. We can work in English or Arabic - with an Egyptian flavor!

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.

Therapy Sessions Rawda Tomoum Practice Description
Therapy does not need to feel heavy all the time in order to be meaningful. I aim to create a space where you can speak openly, feel understood, and explore difficult experiences without feeling judged or overwhelmed. My approach is warm and gentle, while also direct, practical, and engaged. I will help you make sense of what is happening, recognize patterns that may be keeping you stuck, and identify clear steps toward the change you are seeking. I work with individuals navigating life stressors, difficult transitions and adjustments, depression, anxiety, trauma, and the complexities of the first- or second-generation immigrant experience. This may include feeling caught between cultures, carrying family or community expectations, struggling with identity or belonging, or trying to build a life that feels authentic to you. I also work with couples experiencing conflict, communication difficulties, disconnection, broken trust, and recurring patterns that feel difficult to resolve. I support couples in rebuilding emotional safety and connection, understanding one another more clearly, and developing practical ways to communicate and work through conflict. I have a particular interest in multicultural and mixed relationships, where cultural differences, family expectations, in-law dynamics, identity, and values may add additional layers to the relationship. My goal is to make therapy as impactful as possible while keeping the experience as light and manageable as possible. That can include honesty, depth, reflection, practical tools, and moments of humour, all woven into a process that feels intentional, goal-oriented without becoming overwhelming. That being said, you do not need to have everything figured out or already know your "diagnosis" before reaching out. I can help you make sense of what feels difficult or why it's just not working, and then we'll work towards the difference you want to see and how to get there - one step at a time.
