This is a gentle way to infuse a 🫏B.R.A.Y. of hope into your day. Breathe, Reset, Attune, and You are not Alone. Breathe in and notice expansion. Reset your thoughts for a moment on the expansion you noticed. Attune to the sights, sounds, textures, smells around you. And know that You are NOT Alone in this moment. Grief is not something we usually run towards or immediately welcome with open arms. But there is great meaning to be found after the shock settles and a new normal arises. Connecting with a trusteed peer who has been though the grieving process can be comforting.

Sigh. For anyone who has lost someone they loved, I am so sorry for your loss. After I suddenly lost my dad and mini-donkey a few months apart the grief naturally came in waves. I realized I had to anchor onto something to remind me to stay in the moment and not get swept away with what often feels like bottomless sorrow. For me, and maybe for you, this can help.  One of the things I love about all donkeys is the “Bray” (HEE-HAW) sound because it is lovely and jarring at the same time. It is hard not to notice the Bray because the intention is to get attention.

My prayer and hope is as we B.R.A.Y: Breathe, Reset, Attune, and You are not Alone, we sense in grief also the warmth and gentle presence of healing. A ray of hope. My faith tradition nudges me to share hope (Psalm 62:5) and my profession encourages me to invite you to get support if you need professional guidance to share the burden alongside you. Much like getting support from a donkey, some loads are too heavy to carry alone.

Be encouraged. Even if Within Range is not the right fit for you, there are many wonderful counselors from diverse backgrounds and faith traditions who understand grief and can provide you with support to get through each day. Don’t give up. It gets better. It gets brighter.  One bray at a time.☀️
