I truly love helping people have a better relationship with themselves (and those around them as a side effect) and be able to make more conscious choices in their life and believe in what I have learned both personally and professionally to help people get there. Over my time as a therapist (and in going through my own journey) I have seen how that what brings people toward truly feeling better is learning to be more self compassionate, building acceptance of their own story and how it has affected their life and developing a more neutral relationship with the thoughts and feelings that they experience.

Treatment Approach
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
- Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
- Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
- Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
- Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
- Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
- Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
- Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
Approach Description: The beginning of counselling will look different for everyone to a degree, but mainly it will involve relationship building and information gathering, getting a good sense about where you are at, what you want to change and looking honestly at the areas that may be holding you back (even with good intentions). From there we will look at the potentially destructive patterns you are experiencing that are keeping your life small, or not in the way that works for you anymore - this could be thought patterns, compulsive or addictive behaviours, things you are avoiding/scared of and relational patterns. Treatment will be a mix of open expression and processing, but always with bringing to what is relevant in the now- what is keeping you stuck, and how can we help you move more toward and identify what matters to you.

I like to blend both talk and action into my practice. It is from my own experience and feedback from clients that most people benefit from having an authentic relationship with their counsellor and having some support around taking actionable steps forward for lasting change (ideally being more of your own therapist and connected to that wise inner voice inside you).
