Treatment Approach

  • Adlerian Therapy Focuses on understanding a person’s sense of belonging and purpose. It helps people overcome feelings of inferiority and create healthier relationships.
  • Biopsychosocial Therapy Takes into account biological, psychological, and social factors in understanding mental health. It looks at the whole person, not just symptoms.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
Approach Description: Throughout my counseling career, I have discovered that I align most with Person-Centered Theory, Individual Psychology, and Cognitive Behavioral Theory. These theories most align with my worldview, and beliefs about human nature, mental illness, and wellness. I particularly appreciate existential, constructivist, holistic, and humanistic theories, emphasizing personal growth and self-regulation. While I believe no one theory is better than any others, my selected theories allow me to best help my clients become more self-aware and cope with mental illness, instability, upheaval, or change.

Katherine Jones Practice Description
I help Millenial and Gen Z women regain their vitality, peace of mind, and overall health. Millennials, individuals born between 1981 and 1996, and Gen Z, individuals born between 1997 and 2012, face unique challenges in navigating adulthood. I am a fellow millennial and understand the complexities of this journey. In my role as a therapist, I listen without judgment and act as an advocate and guide as we collaboratively come up with solutions to what is bothering you. In sessions, I’ll provide you with tools and philosophies to safely explore your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors so you can keep doing what works and let go of what is no longer serving you. You’ll walk away from our time together being a more vital and fulfilled version of yourself. I’ve heard my clients say that they like working with me because I’m inviting, thorough, non-judgmental, and direct. I show up as my real, funny, nerdy, self and work hard to make sure that I am meeting you where you are at so that you can get what you want out of our time together. This means that I am an active participant in your care and hope that you will be too. If you are ready to take the next step, I invite you to contact me. I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation so you can get a feel for whether I am a good fit for your unique needs.
