Arzu Ferguson Practice Description
I provide Psychological Services to Adults. I am both a member of the College of Psychologists of Ontario and the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. I provide clinical and diagnostic assessments for Psychological/ Emotional Functioning, ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorders, Intellectual, Cognitive, Academic Abilities, Long-term disability, ODSP. I have extensive training and experience in the treatment of anxiety disorders (health anxiety, social anxiety, performance anxiety, generalized anxiety, separation anxiety), depression and bipolar disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders (binge eating), psychotic disorders, schizophrenia, personality disorders (Borderline personality disorder), chronic pain and somatic symptom disorder. As an advanced trauma therapist, I treat clients with ptsd, complex ptsd, childhood traumas, abuse and neglect, grief and loss of a loved one. I have advanced training and certification in Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and provide Attachment-focused therapy to solve relationship issues. As a psychotherapist, I have extensive experience over the years treating children and adolescents on different issues such as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, oppositional defiant behaviour, anger management, self-injurious behaviour and suicidal ideation, depression, negative body image, low self-esteem, shyness, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, eating disorders, generalized anxiety and panic disorders, fears and phobias (needle and injection phobia, animal and insect phobias), dealing with death and grief, separation and divorce, blended-family issues, and sibling rivalry. For many, going to therapy for the first time can be daunting, but it doesn't have to be. At Sunny Days Psychology, you can always expect a genuine and judgement-free zone, where together we can build a trusting relationship. When choosing a therapist, it is important to find someone that will understand your situation. Likewise, you want to feel at ease when sharing your feelings and thoughts. My therapy style is client-centered. I believe that no single clinical theory or approach is comprehensive enough to account for the complexities of human behaviour. Some therapies focus on bringing out feelings, others stress identifying thoughts and others concentrate on actual behaviour. I use Cognitive-Behaviour Therapy, T.E.A.M Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Image Transformation Therapy (IMTt), Attachment-Focused lens and Mindfulness in my therapeutic approach.
