Kayzim Suárez-Reyes
Psychologist, PhD
As someone who has experienced trauma, I know how hard it is to deal with ghosts from the past! I have specialized psychological expertise in trauma, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) and the complex dynamics of intergenerational trauma. I'm specifically trained in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), an evidence-based method for helping youth and their families process traumatic experiences. I understand that trauma is not just a memory, but a pervasive, ongoing disruption to the nervous system and one's core sense of self and safety. I utilize a range of trauma-informed approaches to help clients safely process past events, regulate emotional and physiological responses, and move out of patterns of chronic activation or emotional numbing. My goal is to support you in breaking the cycle of pain, reclaiming your narrative, and fostering post-traumatic growth to build a future defined by connection, presence, and genuine peace.

MindOverHealing Therapies
Hypnotherapist, CHt
Hypnotherapy can be instrumental in addressing trauma and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Trauma often leaves deep emotional scars that manifest as anxiety, flashbacks, nightmares, and heightened stress responses. Traditional therapeutic approaches may not always reach these deeply embedded issues, but hypnotherapy offers a unique avenue to access and heal the subconscious mind where trauma is often stored. Furthermore, hypnotherapy can help individuals build positive coping mechanisms and resilience. Techniques such as guided imagery and positive suggestion can instill a sense of safety and empowerment, replacing the negative emotions tied to traumatic events.

Margaret Graham
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC, LCPC, LPCC
My work with trauma and PTSD clients focuses on developing safe, paced strategies for processing difficult experiences that continue to impact your present life. Through evidence-based approaches including EMDR, clinical hypnosis, and somatic techniques, we address key areas including hypervigilance, emotional flashbacks, relational patterns rooted in past wounds, and nervous system dysregulation. I help clients build resources and resilience before processing traumatic memories, develop tools for managing triggers and overwhelming emotions in daily life, understand how past experiences shaped current beliefs and behaviors, and create new neural pathways that support healing and integration. My approach acknowledges that trauma work requires moving at your pace while providing a framework that allows you to process what happened without being retraumatized in the telling.

Hilary Stokes
Therapist, PHD, LCSW
We experience trauma when the stress or fear of threat overwhelm our system and we are not able to consciously process everything that is happening. Our instincts take over and our nervous system goes into survival mode to help us deal with the situation. This is a process known as neuroception, where we assess risks and react via our primal instincts. This looks like the part of our nervous system that is capable of survival and takes a primary role and we either fight, flight, freeze, appease or collapse in response to what is happening. Our rational thinking brain takes a back seat to let our instinctual emotional brain take over. Once we experience an event as traumatic, our nervous system makes it difficult to get out. The part of our brain responsible for memory of details, time, space and basic facts becomes far less active and our sensory memory takes over. We can lose track of the details making it challenging to recall what happened after the fact. The traumatic experiences get stored at a sensory, visceral, and often nonverbal level in our implicit memory. We may experience this at more of an unconscious level making it difficult to fully process at a more cognitive or conscious level.
These memories tend to get suspended or stuck in time leaving a residue of unresolved distressing energy. This puts a lot of stress on the mind-body system, is exhausting and inevitably is not sustainable. Healing as a result requires accessing the implicit memories that exist outside of our ability to verbalize and rationally process our thoughts about what happened. Brainspotting, EMDR , somatic therapy and other mind body therapies known to access implicit memory networks are vital to healing. They help move memories from an unconscious and unresolved state to a more conscious and adaptive state.

Phillip McCulley
Marriage and Family Therapist, MA, LMFT, CSAT
I work with individuals and couples who are dealing with the effects of trauma or post traumatic stress. Trauma can come from many experiences, including childhood events, relationship betrayal, abuse, medical trauma, loss, or other situations that felt overwhelming or unsafe. Even when the event is in the past, its effects can continue to show up through anxiety, emotional numbness, hypervigilance, intrusive memories, or difficulty trusting others.
In therapy, I help clients understand how trauma is affecting their nervous system, emotions, and relationships in the present. I use trauma informed approaches, including EMDR therapy, to help process painful experiences in a way that feels safe and manageable. This work allows many clients to feel less controlled by memories or emotional reactions and more grounded in their daily lives.
Trauma healing is not about reliving the past or forcing yourself to move on. It is about helping your mind and body release what they have been holding onto so you can feel more present, connected, and in control. Together, we work toward restoring a sense of safety, stability, and confidence in yourself and your relationships.

Emma Esper
Marriage and Family Therapist, LMFT, LPCC
Trauma creates profoundly deep and painful wounds. These wounds can be difficult to heal, as we often suppress them, have difficulty expressing them, or do not have safe spaces to unearth them. Unhealed trauma can inform how we make decisions, how we see ourselves, how we see others and our world, and how we react to these things. My work with trauma survivors is to instill hope and self-worth, acknowledge and validate all emotions, create feelings of safety, and provide permission giving for struggle. Remember, it is okay to not be okay.

IEMT Trauma Therapy
Hypnotherapist, C.Ht., NLP, I.E.M.T., B.T.P, Adv-EFT., CBT Specialist
IEMT is uniquely effective for trauma because it doesn’t require talking about the details. It quickly disconnects the emotional overwhelm from the memory, making the past truly feel like the past. Flashbacks and emotional hijacks are common with PTSD. IEMT works by rapidly reducing the charge behind those memories, helping your mind stop reacting as if the danger is still present.
