At GCCC, we understand that childhood and adolescence are critical periods of development, often accompanied by unique challenges. I began a 32 year career with Los Angeles County in 1970. During the entirety of my career I worked in residential and community based treatment programs providing treatment services to youth ages 13-18. My responsibilities ranged from having counseling and supervision responsibility for a caseload of twenty-four 15-18 year old minors, to having administrative responsibility for a 130 bed residential treatment program. In between these vastly different areas of responsibility, I served as a consultant to 24 residential treatment programs providing treatment services to roughly 2,100 adolescents. Despite that I have been retired from LA County for 23 years, I still work with 10-18 year old youth on a selective basis.

Children and adolescents have their own issues that get in the way before becoming adults. I have been helping the young patients with these issues by unconventional hypnotherapies and they are getting resilient and recovering in no time.

Raising our Children, adolescents, teens, and young adults can be challenging at times. We add alternatives to hopelessness and solutions for today in our busy life. We believe that the emotional stressors placed on our children and families today can generate obstacles to developing important life skills. Here at our practice we focus on the well being and assistance for our generation today. With a safe space we have advanced developmentally appropriate prevention and intervention strategies for counseling and mentoring children, adolescents, teens and young adults, developing the right strategy to improve their everyday living.

Anchorage is the most geographically isolated major city in the United States, and this isolation — combined with Alaska's extreme seasonal light variation — contributes to elevated rates of seasonal affective disorder, depression, and substance use that therapists here address as recurring priorities. The city has a significant Alaska Native and American Indian population, and therapists offering trauma-informed, culturally grounded care that engages with Indigenous mental health, subsistence culture, and historical trauma from colonial policies are an especially important part of the local landscape.
