Co dependency is something many of us have learned or sustained in our closest relationships, and may be understood along a continuum. Many of us feel responsible to carry and / or manage the feelings and choices of others; our sense of self and purpose can be derived from taking care of others. This can lead to us carrying too much of an emotional burden and lead to burnout, frustration and relational distress, especially when others don't want to accept our 'help'. We may have perfectionist tendencies and be fearful of rejection, and have difficulty accepting help when we need it ourselves, and this can cause us to work overly hard and make it difficult to say 'no' and set healthy boundaries. As a result we often feel under appreciated, untrusting, overworked and exhausted. Maybe it's time we worked together to understand where or why we have these tendencies and learn to truly value our most authentic self, ,engage in self care and self love, identify and effectively communicate our needs and to become better at setting healthy boundaries without feeling guilty or selfish or fearing conflict or loss of relationships. Is this something that you struggle with?

Daniel Keith McMath
Counsellor/Therapist, | Coach | PCC, MPCC
Many people don't realize they've slowly disappeared inside their relationships until they can no longer answer a simple question: "What do I actually need?" When your focus has been keeping the peace, earning approval, or carrying responsibility for everyone else's emotions, it's easy to lose yourself without ever meaning to. Together we'll gently untangle those patterns, strengthen healthy boundaries, and help you build relationships where caring for others no longer requires abandoning yourself.

Codependency is a sneaky thing. It feels normal, it feels like caring for others; it feels like loving someone really hard but the resentment, fatigue, and continual loop of closeness, and chaos is a block you can get past. I work to help you slow down and allow for other patterns to show up where you can look back say "I'm doing relationships differently now!".
