Jonah Fialkow
Counsellor/Therapist, MA, RCC
As a therapist, my approach to working with men's issues is rooted in empathy, understanding, and a commitment to dismantling harmful stereotypes and societal pressures that affect men. I recognize that men, like everyone else, experience a wide range of emotions, but often face unique challenges in expressing and processing them due to societal expectations of masculinity.
In therapy, I create a safe and non-judgmental space where men can explore their thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely. I encourage open communication and validation of emotions, emphasizing that vulnerability is not a weakness but a strength. I work collaboratively with my male clients to identify and challenge any unhelpful beliefs or behaviours that may be contributing to their distress or inhibiting their personal growth

Adam Manz
Licensed Mental Health Counsellor, Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), MCP
Many men come to therapy feeling pressure to “hold it together” or unsure how to express what’s really going on beneath the surface. You might notice patterns of anger, withdrawal, or self-criticism that affect your mood, work, or relationships. In our sessions, we’ll create space to slow down and explore what’s driving those patterns—making room for a fuller range of emotion, greater self-understanding, and more authentic connection with others. Therapy can be a place to rediscover your own sense of strength, purpose, and calm.

Dustin Hogan - Men's Counselling
Counsellor/Therapist, RTC
As men, we've been expected to show up in a certain way our whole lives. Hold our feelings inside. Be the leader. Man up. Tough it out.
When we ask for help, we're told to "man up" or that we're "weak." When our mental health suffers, we're told to get our it together and shake it off.
It's no wonder the male suicide rate is 3 to 4 times that of women.
So many of us are struggling on the inside and never share that struggle with anyone. We suffer in silence. That is not the way forward. It serves no one.
It can feel overwhelming when you’re trying to do it all alone. But together, we can overcome all of these barriers that are stopping you from living your best life. And I’d love to help you get there!

Darren Williamson
Counsellor/Therapist, RCC (#23397)
Men's mental health issues continue to be ignored and stigmatized in our society. Men are told to be resilient and self-reliant and not to seek help or ask questions. Modern society still expects men to be providers and protectors, to look or act a certain way, and this unspoken pressure can be a cause of shame and anxiety.
Through therapy, we can also explore emotions such as anger and sadness in a safe place. This is a safe setting to open up about shame, addiction, relationship problems, sexual problems, body image issues, or crises of meaning. We will explore what your masculinity means to you and help you to integrate it into your life in a healthy way.

Ah, the ol' "manly man" trope, right? That image of the unshakeable oak tree, stoically weathering every storm with nary a crack in his bark. You know the one – the guy who can stare down a charging rhino, fix a leaky faucet with a single glare, and whose emotional range is apparently limited to "stoic" and "slightly less stoic, but still stoic." It’s a narrative so deeply embedded, we sometimes forget it’s more of a Hollywood special effect than a biological imperative.
But let’s be real, behind that perfectly sculpted jawline and unwavering gaze, you might find a whole different internal weather system. Perhaps you’re the type who secretly sheds a tear during a sappy commercial (don't worry, your secret's safe with me... and this article). Maybe the thought of asking for directions makes your palms sweat more than a marathon. Or perhaps you’re just trying to figure out what this whole "modern masculinity" thing even means, while simultaneously resisting the urge to Hulk-smash the nearest IKEA furniture when you can't assemble it.
The pressure to fit into the pre-packaged idea of manhood is no joke, and it can feel like trying to cram yourself into a suit two sizes too small at a formal event. It’s enough to make anyone want to retreat back into their emotional cave, armed with nothing but grunts and a vague sense of exasperation.
But here’s the kicker: this whole "oak tree" business? It’s about as authentic as a three-dollar bill. It's a myth that’s been propped up for ages, and frankly, it's getting a little wobbly. It's time we all took a long, hard look at this outdated ideal and maybe, just maybe, decided to chuck it in the recycling bin. By openly acknowledging that men, just like anyone else, can feel a kaleidoscope of emotions, wrestle with self-doubt, and occasionally need a good hug (or at least a sympathetic nod), we can start to build something a lot more real. So, let’s have a chuckle at the absurdity of it all, and then let’s get on with building a version of manhood that’s as diverse and vibrant as all of us. Because authenticity, my friends, is the ultimate superpower.
