Arne Pedersen - Hypnotherapy Victoria
Hypnotherapist, RCCH
Living with chronic pain or long-term illness can be physically exhausting and emotionally overwhelming. Beyond the symptoms themselves, many people find their nervous system becomes stuck in a state of vigilance, tension, or struggle, making it difficult for the body to rest, regulate, and heal.
From a mindfulness-based perspective, pain is often understood as the body’s way of communicating that something needs attention or change. When signals from the body are ignored or pushed through over time, the nervous system may respond by amplifying those signals — not as punishment, but as an attempt to be heard and protected.
Thoughts, emotions, and perception also play an important role. Ongoing fear, resistance, pessimism, or self-judgment can be reflected in the body as tension and unease, much like waking from a bad dream with the body still holding fear. Over time, this lack of internal ease can interrupt the body’s natural flow and regulation, contributing to persistent pain.
Chronic pain also commonly goes hand-in-hand with disrupted or poor-quality sleep. When the body doesn’t have enough opportunity to rest deeply, its ability to repair, replenish, and heal is reduced, which can further reinforce pain and fatigue.
In our work together, the focus is on gently restoring a sense of safety, awareness, and ease within the body. Through mindfulness practices, breath awareness, and body-based attention, clients learn how to relate differently to physical sensations, reduce resistance, and support the nervous system in settling.
Hypnotherapy can further support this process by helping update subconscious protective patterns and creating felt experiences of calm and safety that also support more restorative rest. While this work does not replace medical care, many people find that as regulation improves, both pain and sleep begin to shift in more supportive ways.

Teo Counselling Services
Registered Psychotherapist, MACP, CCC, RPq
Chronic pain and illness can often be intertwined with past trauma, as our bodies can "keep the score" of emotional and physical stress. I specialize in helping clients manage chronic pain and illness by exploring how unresolved trauma may contribute to their physical symptoms. Through Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), I guide clients in processing traumatic memories, reducing their emotional impact, and helping the body release stored tension. Alongside EMDR, I use mindfulness and cognitive behavioral techniques to empower clients to regain control over their health and well-being. Together, we’ll work on alleviating the emotional burden of chronic pain, promoting healing, and enhancing quality of life.

Chronic pain and illness often have layers that go beyond the physical body. I work somatically, in a trauma informed and nervous system aware way, to gently explore the root patterns that may be contributing to ongoing symptoms. Our work may include inner child healing, IFS & parts work, hypnotherapy, or energy-healing based practices, always guided by your system and paced with care. I offer a specialized body-based healing program for women who are ready to receive in-depth, holistic, support for their physical and health concerns. I would love to support you.

Theodosia Daflos
Counsellor/Therapist, MA
Chronic pain and chronic illnesses can be devastating to experience, particularly if there is no treatment for them. From a psychological perspective, we know and acknowledge that you have a biological cause of your pain and illness that we can't change through therapy. What we CAN help with is managing your pain and illness. This can include identifying and working through barriers to taking your medications or making medical appointments to manage your illness, identifying patterns and triggers that make your symptoms worse, and addressing the stress, anxiety, and depression your illness and pain can cause.

Tatiana Balashova (Life in Glow Wellness)
Counsellor/Therapist
Life with and without pain is very big difference, almost every person knows that.
It is quite common when chronic illnesses and pain have psychosomatic causes at least in part of their nature. I recommend you to watch 2 videos about Emotion-Image Therapy on my wellness vlog. Often some kind of trapped emotion or feeling lies at the root of pain or disfunction. When things are manifesting into physical level it is usually after emotional, mental and energetic, more less tangible levels which can be quite hard to diagnose. There are millions of people who go to doctors only to hear “it will be even worse” or “let’s give it some time”. Whereas looking deeper at the root of the problem in time and addressing the emotional psychosomatic aspect of the illness can prevent drastic changes in the body which in some cases can be irreversible.
In any case I believe if you can handle pain you can handle a few sessions looking at what is causing it at different levels.
With chronic pain and illnesses and psychosomatic requests I usually use emotion-image therapy, MACards counseling or art therapy. At times I combine those methods. I’d recommend to book a package of 3-5 sessions at minimum together, to schedule sessions once a week.
Sessions are available on the first come first serve basis with a preference to returning clients and have to be booked in advance (pre-paid in advance).
Rates for sessions vary from USD $75 to $125 depending on the package and length of the session.
I offer a sliding scale for the 1st session and when you take a package.
As a special promo, discovery consultation in March 2023 is free of charge, it lasts 20-30 minutes and can be followed up by the 1st consultation on the same day.
