TREATMENT AND TOOLS FOR TRAUMA
Licensed Psychoanalyst, PH.D., IN PSYCHOANALYSIS AND NEUROSCIENCE, CERTIFIED PSYCHOANALYST, PSY.A, & LICENSED PSYCHOANALYST
Schizophrenia is a specific type of psychosis characterized by delusions and hallucinations. It is considered to be a thought disorder as opposed to a mood disorder such manic-depression (bipolar I and II). Anti-psychotic medications can be helpful initially to "clear" the mind, but I believe the most important aspect of the treatment is the psychoanalytic relationship over a number years. I believe schizophrenia, like all mental illness, is based in traumatic experiences for the individual and can best be dealt with treating the brain with nutrients and the mind with very careful talk therapy over a number of years. You are welcome to call my office at 661-478-0667 for an evaluation.

Sam Naimi
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Relational Psychoanalyst, LCSW, Psychotherapist
Experiences associated with schizophrenia can profoundly affect one’s sense of self and self-in-relationships; but these experiences do not erase the person having them. I approach psychosis with respect and curiosity, attending not only to symptoms but to the emotional meanings, relationships and fears surrounding them. Psychoanalytic therapy can provide a steady relationship in which experiences that may feel fragmented, frightening, or difficult to communicate can gradually be put into words and thought about together. When appropriate, this work can take place alongside psychiatric care and other supports, with the aim of helping you feel more grounded, understood, and connected to yourself and to other people.

Santa Clarita is a large suburban city north of Los Angeles in the Santa Clarita Valley — one of the primary bedroom communities for the entertainment industry, with a significant population of production workers, crew members, and support staff whose careers are tied to the cycles of film and television production. The city's family-oriented, relatively conservative character contrasts with the precarious employment reality of many of its entertainment-connected residents, and therapists frequently address creative career anxiety, the boom-bust psychology of production employment, and the identity challenges of supporting roles in an industry that prizes visibility. Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital provides institutional mental health resources alongside a private therapy community. Santa Clarita's suburban sprawl and car-dependent layout contribute to social isolation themes that therapists encounter frequently.
