I have 3 years of working directly with folks in recovery from substance use issues. I believe in a harm reductive, person centered approach and understand that substance use is a very unique and uniquely difficult disorder to work through.
In Colorado, I am a Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) and regularly work with substance use disorder and what has occurred in your life to make this a viable option when it started. We won't leave you without coping skills. Rather, we replace them with new skills instead of substances.
Overcome unhealthy habits and addictions with my cutting-edge program and individualized support. Learn where willpower is found in your brain and how to focus it, and gain powerful, quick-acting tools to soothe cravings and interrupt negative thought patterns. Tailor-made sessions provide resources and hypnotic visualizations to make changes deep within your subconscious, creating lasting transformation. My specialty is supporting women recovering from alcohol with my innovative She’s on the Way Back program.
My primary focus in graduate school both clinically and in research was on addictive behaviors. I took a multidisciplinary approach in treating addiction, typically working on teams with medical providers/prescribers, social workers, and nurses. I take a harm reduction approach to treating addiction and can provide additional referrals to prescribers and/or support groups when needed/desired. In my experience, addiction tends to co-occur with other mental health diagnoses (most often, trauma) and I take this knowledge into my clinical practice to provide well rounded treatment for individuals with alcohol or substance misuse.
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC , Licensed Professional Counselor
I have over 3 years experience working with individuals who struggle with addiction, and have worked from an inpatient level to an outpatient level of care. Recovery is possible, and you don't have to face it alone.
Using Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavorial Therapy, Relapse Prevention, and Narrative Therapy, I help you develop effective emotional regulation skills and healthy self-esteem, so you no longer feel the need to escape difficult emotions through the addictive behaviors and self-destruct. You learn to create a new, sustainable life narrative of resiliency and self-respect.
I have five years experience with addiction treatment and co-occurring disorders in both an inpatient and outpatient setting and have guided hundreds of unique individuals in achieving their sobriety goals.
I have extensive training and experience in helping others overcome substance and behavioral addictions. We can work together to explore and resolve the original cause of addiction while engaging in behavioral techniques to overcome addiction in the present.
In our comfortable, home-like ranch setting, clients of all ages and income levels are provided counseling or psychotherapy with the assistance of certified counselors and their trained therapy animals. Have a cup of tea and pet the baby goats while you wait, or sit quietly in our gazebo and read.
I worked in an Intensive Outpatient Program with professionals of all kinds (athletes, surgeons, pilots, etc.) who were struggling with substance use disorders. It made me realize the similarities of the addict brain and those of high performers (often pushing to the extremes in healthy or less than healthy ways). I'm passionate about helping people understand their relationship with substances in order to heal different parts of their lives. I believe recovery has many paths and it's important to take the first step towards it!
