Johanna Isaacs
Psychologist, Psy.D., PsyPACT Participant
I help clients with anxiety identify their fear and worry patterns, understand where these thoughts may have come from in their lives, and create new ways of thinking that are more balanced and supportive. Creating anxiety management tools that help reduce physical anxiety symptoms in the moment means that my clients build realistic and useful coping strategies that help them feel better when anxiety peaks. We cannot eliminate anxiety or fear from our life but we can learn to understand our anxiety as a piece of us and ultimately appreciate who we are as a whole person.

Denver Wellness Counseling
Licensed Professional Counselor, MA, LPC
Here at Denver Wellness Counseling we specialize in the treatment of trauma (unprocessed fear-based memories), anxiety, panic, and related disorders.
As one of the most common reasons for seeking therapy, anxiety can be rather complex and "sticky" as a symptom, requiring a thoughtful and educated approach. Anxiety is also a big, umbrella term, and thus it is often helpful to begin treatment by increasing awareness about one's unique anxiety, including its origins, how and why it developed or increased over time, and most importantly, how the anxiety is trying to "help." Despite the major discomfort of anxiety, it often feels like it has a job (or 2) and thus will be resistant to initial, simple attempts to soothe it.
Once the anxiety is understood, we can explore past and present events that contribute to the function of anxiety, and consider a healing modality, such as EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and/or parts-work, to relieve the core fears that contribute to the anxiety and it's "role" of self-protection. Often the process of anxiety treatment includes the work of unburdening a younger version of ourself with an unfair role it had to play for protection, safety, or to receive/maintain love (ex. perfectionism, people pleasing, codependency, etc).
EMDR for anxiety can target the source of anxiety from past, present, or future situations. We also offer advanced EMDR techniques and approaches for panic attacks or specific phobias.

Naya Clinics Denver
Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselors
Anxiety is a state of feeling afraid of a future, unknown, or ambiguous threat. It is often characterized by certain physiological symptoms, along with doubt concerning the nature of the threat and our ability to handle it. Some anxiety is a normal part of life. In fact, it is necessary for our survival and peak performance. After all, the anxiety you feel before an interview or a performance can motivate you to be prepared, vigilant, and focused. However, if anxiety persists beyond the threat or challenge, it begins to lose its benefits. An unhealthy level of anxiety can paralyze you and leave you unable to function in the most basic tasks. If your anxiety is persisting and getting worse, this could qualify as an anxiety disorder, and you should consider counseling for anxiety.

Melissa Clark with Fire and Reins
Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
I help clients work with anxiety and fear that show up in their relationships—especially when it leads to overthinking, reassurance-seeking, withdrawal, or difficulty trusting connection. Rather than trying to simply “calm down” anxious responses, we slow things down and get curious about what your nervous system is responding to and what your fear is trying to protect.
Together, we explore the patterns that keep you feeling uncertain or disconnected in relationship, while building your capacity to stay present with discomfort without losing yourself or the connection you care about. Over time, this work supports a shift from reactivity and fear-based relating into more grounded, secure, and intentional ways of connecting with others.

Glenn Permar
Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC
For many high-functioning adults, anxiety shows up as constant internal pressure in the form of overthinking, scanning for problems, rarely feeling fully at ease. I help clients understand how long-term stress keeps the nervous system reactive and how to gradually reset that pattern. Together we reduce reactivity, build emotional steadiness, and create more room for clear, grounded decision-making. The goal isn’t to eliminate anxiety completely, but to reduce its intensity so you can think clearly and move through life with more ease.
