Smoking is a deeply ingrained habit that affects millions of people worldwide. Despite the known health risks associated with smoking, many individuals find it challenging to quit because of the addictive nature of nicotine and the psychological aspects of smoking. However, hypnotherapy has emerged as a powerful tool to help individuals overcome this addiction and embrace a healthier, smoke-free life.

I have been working with clients to stop smoking since 2008. Stopping smoking can be straightforward e.g. I started smoking in high school and now I'm getting married I want to stop, or complex e.g. I've got cancer, I've got an operation coming up. Even if you have been smoking for decades it is possible to stop and experience the benefits. If you are ready to stop today - congratulations! If you are not quite there yet, and the idea is making you a bit anxious, we can work through those feelings together and before you know it you will be ready to stop forever. I provide lots of tools and strategies to use at home to support you every step of the way. If your nicotine intake comes from vaping or dipping rather than cigarettes, please get in touch.

Smoking anaesthetizes you so that you don't feel the bad feelings. The problem is, you also don't feel the good feelings either, and your health and life are at risk. What smokers don't realize is that the feeling that they identify as the desire to smoke is actually a bad feeling they are carrying from the past. When they smoke, this bad feeling disappears, so they believe that the bad feeling (which usually they are not conscious of) was the desire to smoke, when in fact it was a bad feeling from the past that is anaesthetized by smoking. I will help you to identify the experience(s) in the past that created the bad feeling, and help you to resolve it. You will then no longer have the desire to smoke.

Hypnotherapy and the will are often used. But I have also seen other tools to be effective in helping the person who seriously wants to give up.

Exeter is Devon's cathedral city and county town, home to the University of Exeter—a Russell Group institution with a strong academic reputation—and one of the south-west's most economically vibrant cities, with growing demand for mental health services driven by a rapidly increasing population and a student community with significant wellbeing needs. NHS mental health services are provided through Devon Partnership NHS Trust, and a well-developed private therapy sector serves both the university community and the broader Exeter population. The city's housing market has become one of the most expensive in the south-west, creating financial stress for young professionals and key workers who want to live in a genuinely desirable city. Common therapy concerns include student mental health, anxiety related to housing and financial pressures, life transitions, and the identity and career challenges of a city that attracts young graduates who stay on after completing their degrees.
