THE WHOLE STORY APPROACH I offer a relational, high-trust therapeutic space where every part of your journey, from your cultural heritage and faith to your professional life, is seen, respected, and valued. As a BACP Accredited Psychotherapist and former Head of University Counselling & Wellbeing, I bring over a decade of senior clinical leadership and international experience to our work together. Having lived and worked in Qatar for six years within a diverse international community, I bring a global, nuanced perspective to my relational work. I understand the complex dynamics of mixed-heritage families, navigating differing worldviews, and holding firm to your core values. Beyond my cultural and relational work, my background directing large-scale clinical services means my practice is held to the highest standards of clinical governance and care. Whether you are navigating workplace burnout, the pressures of leadership, or personal questions of heritage and identity, I offer an expert, spiritually sensitive space to support your growth. Lavinia May

Counsellor/Therapist, MNCPS (Acc.)
Hi, I'm Lavinia. If you and your partner keep having the same argument, feel disconnected, or find yourselves walking on eggshells - you're not alone, and things can change. I specialise in couples therapy, and also work with individuals. My approach is warm, honest and practical: we'll make sense of what's going on between you, and build small, realistic steps that help your relationship feel easier, closer and more like you again. I use proven tools and techniques - without the jargon. Sessions feel like real conversations with direction: we set goals together, track what's working, and adapt as we go. I work with couples and individuals navigating: recurring arguments & communication breakdowns · trust & repair after conflict · intimacy & emotional disconnection · anxiety creeping into the relationship · family & in-law boundaries · life transitions & burnout · reconnecting after a rough patch Practicalities: 50-minute sessions • Online or in person in my Sandbach office • Individual & Couples. 🎁 20% Off All Therapy Sessions: Summer is here - and so is 20% off all therapy sessions. Let's make it count! Next step: Introductory Session 50 minutes | Individuals & Couples The first step is an initial session together - a relaxed conversation to get to know each other, hear a little about what's been going on, and explore how I may be able to support you. There's no pressure or commitment at this stage. Prefer to skip the Introductory Session? You're welcome to book your first therapy session directly. Saint Albans, England therapist: Karine Flynn, psychologist
Integrative

Karine Flynn

Psychologist, MSc, GMBPS
You've done real therapeutic work. You understand your patterns with a clarity that took years to build: why your nervous system braces before a difficult conversation, why certain relationships seem to confirm your oldest fears, why the same emotional weather keeps returning no matter how much you've examined it. That understanding is not the problem. There is simply a neurobiological ceiling to what verbal processing can reach. Some people hit it - and when they do, the patterns that remain aren't stored as thoughts to be reframed. They live in the nervous system, in the body's tissues, in responses that were encoded long before language was available to organise them. I work at that ceiling. Not because what came before was wrong - but because the next layer of work requires a different kind of access. With over 20 years of experience and a deep specialisation in body-based trauma release, I work with self-aware individuals who are ready to move from understanding their patterns to releasing them. If that's where you are, I'd like to hear from you.
