Julie Jenner

Counsellor/Therapist, BA(Hons), NCS Senior Accredited
I am a neurodivergent counsellor who was very late in getting diagnosed, with plenty of lived experience of what it is like to live not feeling like I quite fit in, and of the journey into learning about my differences, and how to create a life that suits me now. I embrace your unique otherness, and we will work out together to discover what works best for you. As we get to know each other, I will support you to discover what changes you would like to make, and how you can work towards making it happen.

Finding the right counsellor for you is one of the most important parts that will make therapy more effective and successful for you. Its not just about our qualifications but how we connect and work together. I am a Neurodivergent counsellor and have found this out very late in life, I understand how it feels to just not fit in or be able to conform to the 'norms' of society, to struggle to work out why we are different. How to find ways to learn who you are and love all those 'quirks' that make us different. I understand how this feels and will work with you to help you find your way to manage what you are experiencing. I have learnt experience with CNBC - childless not by choice and Chronic Pain & Fatigue conditions. With both of these I find it can really be beneficial that I have an understanding of how it feels and not just how it is to study these experiences. As well as working with Adults I also work as a counsellor with young people in schools, colleges and my private practice.

Dr Grenville Major

Therapist, MBchB, MRCpsych, MSc psychological therapies
My take on life is that it is pretty difficult. Not for "Sissies" my father told me. I subscribe to the idea that meaning and purpose can be found in helping others. Making the world a little better for others. To that end I studied medicine and have been a GP, neurosurgeon, emergency specialist, psychiatrist and psychotherapist. As a therapist I use tools not only from psychotherapy but also draw on psychoanalysis, philosophy, biology, social science, and the spiritual. I am keen to help others find their own unique purpose and get meaning out of their life. It would be an honour for me to help you.

One size does not fit all, and one therapist, using one approach, does not work for everybody. I believe that matching the right therapy delivered by the right therapist to an individual is the key to therapeutic success.

You thought that becoming a parent would be exciting, but you've also felt overwhelmed, anxious and like you’re struggling to cope. There's been an expectation that you'd be happy and even ‘glowing’ but the reality has often felt very different. It has left you wondering if you’re failing or 'not doing it right' which can make it hard to say you're not OK or ask for help. If this feels like you, please know that you are not alone and that these thoughts and feelings are very common, even if they’re not often talked about. As a Clinical Psychologist specialising in parental and perinatal wellbeing, I can support you as you adjust to becoming a parent, whether this is during pregnancy, after your baby is born, following a traumatic birth or when your baby has additional health needs or has required neonatal care. I also offer bereavement support when a baby has sadly died. Asking for professional support when things feel difficult can feel scary and uncomfortable. I hope you'll find I offer a supportive, warm, friendly and non-judgment approach. Please feel you can contact me to arrange a free 15 minute telephone call so we can discuss how I can help.
