You may notice yourself feeling more sad and tearful than usual. Or, perhaps you feel numb and indifferent. Maybe you’re tired all the time, it’s difficult to enjoy things you used to, or completing everyday tasks feels insurmountable. Depression can look a little different for each person but one thing is probably clear: you want to feel better. Our work will involve identifying attainable steps toward revitalization so that you can begin tackling current challenges with a sense of direction and clarity. And perhaps more importantly, so that you can get in touch with the parts of your life that make it all worthwhile.

Marcy Miller
Pre-Licensed Professional, Ph.D.
Depression can feel like a heaviness that settles into both mind and body—draining energy, narrowing perspective, and making even simple tasks feel difficult. Alongside this, many people carry a quiet but persistent sense of self-doubt or not being “enough,” often shaped by earlier experiences of criticism, loss, or disconnection.
Rather than viewing these experiences as signs of weakness, we’ll work to understand them as meaningful responses to what you’ve lived through. In therapy, we slow down and gently explore the emotional patterns, beliefs, and relational experiences that contribute to feeling stuck or disconnected.
Drawing from Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and other evidence-based approaches, I support clients in reconnecting with underlying emotions, developing greater self-compassion, and building a more stable and affirming sense of self. Over time, this work can help you feel more engaged in your life, more connected to others, and more grounded in your own worth.

Dr. John E. N. Daniel
Marriage and Family Therapist, EdD; EdS; MA; MA; LCMFT#0404011018; BCCLC#0131
Much of my practice focuses on persons suffering from depression. Clients include college age students, young and middle-aged adults as well as the elderly. I engage a number of beneficial therapy modalities including: crisis intervention, psychoeducation, cognitive behavioral therapy, psychodynamic narrative, guided imagery and critical stress debriefing. Due to the high prevalance of cooccurence specifically anxiety, sleep disturbance and depression, integrative therapy modalities are employed. Every session utilizes Carl Rogers' famous client centered model and places priority on establishing a warm, safe, empathic environment conducive to achieving favorable outcomes and restoration.

Jennifer L Abel
Psychologist, Ph.D.
While depression isn't my primary focus a recent meta-analysis (study combining many studies) proved that focusing on treating worry and anxiety relieves depression as much as targeting it directly. My unique and simple approach to cognitive therapy for anxiety applies equally well to depression. Nonetheless, when we used relaxation only, to target worry and anxiety, it lifted depression as much as those groups who used cognitive therapy. However, if you are so depressed that you have recently contemplated suicide, I suggest you see someone in a group practice or someone who is willing to take emergency calls 24/7 because I do not do that.

Dr. Yanet Vanegas
Psychologist, PsyD
In addressing depression, I implement a dual approach utilizing cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) alongside behavioral activation techniques to foster lasting recovery and well-being. Through CBT, I collaborate with clients to identify and challenge negative thought patterns that contribute to feelings of hopelessness and low mood. By fostering self-awareness and teaching adaptive coping strategies, I empower individuals to reframe their thinking and cultivate a more balanced perspective. Additionally, I integrate behavioral activation, a powerful intervention that focuses on increasing engagement in meaningful activities and reinforcing positive behaviors.
