The months after having a baby are supposed to feel joyful, and when they don't, many new parents feel alone and ashamed. Postpartum depression and anxiety can look like constant worry, numbness, irritability, intrusive thoughts, or feeling disconnected from your baby or your partner. My connection to this work goes back to before I became a therapist: I trained as a birth doula, supported midwives during my graduate practicum, and co-created a birth stories circle where parents could share their experiences. I offer a steady, nonjudgmental space to talk about what this season has really been like. When a difficult or traumatic birth is part of the picture, I use Somatic Experiencing and EMDR to help your body and mind process it. Because a new baby changes a relationship too, partners are always welcome to join, so you can support each other instead of struggling side by side.
