Dr. Cassandra Hutchins

Psychologist, Psy.D.
I understand that seeking out a mental health professional can be a difficult and sometimes intimidating step, and I’m committed to making the process as comfortable and supportive as possible. My goal is to provide confidential, compassionate care while paying close attention to your unique needs and experiences, ensuring that our work together feels personal, meaningful, and effective. I’m a Licensed Psychologist (NJ #6032) with a B.A. in Psychology from Rutgers University and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Capella University. Over the years, I’ve worked in both private practice and community mental health settings, supporting individuals through challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, traumatic brain injury, and involvement with child protective services. My approach integrates evidence-based therapy with a holistic perspective that considers the connection between mind, body, and spirit. I believe in creating a safe, empathetic space where you can process, heal, and grow because your mental and emotional wellbeing deserves thoughtful, individualized care.

Peace and Balance Counseling

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
Will I ever feel like myself again? It can feel as though a part of you has vanished, leaving behind an emptiness nothing seems to ease. Life feels muted; colors less vivid, joy just out of reach. Some days, you hardly recognize the person you’ve become. You want to move forward, yet every step feels heavy and uncertain. When you think about the future, it often appears distant and dark, leaving you wondering how life reached this point. Therapy with me offers a safe, supportive space to untangle the layers of your emotions, thoughts, and experiences. I provide a compassionate environment where you can openly explore anxiety, depression, and the challenges weighing on you. Even if you feel trapped by your current circumstances, it is possible to find clarity, direction, and a sense of freedom through working with a professional. Will happiness return? Yes. Counseling can help you reconnect with who you want to be and how you want to feel. This is your opportunity to make a change and step away from the life that has been holding you down. Take the step you’ve been postponing and reconnect with your confident, joyful self. I’m here to help when you’re ready. Reach out today to begin.

Jersey City, New Jersey therapist: Dr. Israel Martinez, licensed clinical social worker
Serving LGBTQ+

Dr. Israel Martinez

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW, CST, PhD
I provide therapy for gay men and hold licenses in New Jersey, New York, and Utah. Many gay men worry that a therapist might not fully understand their experiences or that they’ll have to hide parts of themselves in session. I once shared those same concerns, and they’re what inspired me to become a therapist who offers affirming, authentic care. Together, we’ll create a supportive, judgment-free space where you can find clarity, growth, and the confidence to live more fully. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, trained at Columbia University, with additional certification as a sex therapist through AASECT and advanced relationship training from The Couples Institute. Over the past two decades, I’ve supported gay men in a variety of settings—including the NYC LGBT Community Center and Gay Men’s Health Crisis (GMHC).

Clifton, New Jersey therapist: Dr. Mike Abrams, psychologist
Serving LGBTQ+

Dr. Mike Abrams

Psychologist, PhD, MBA, ABPP
I limit my practice to a few clients with whom I can offer meaningful help. I do not think it is ethical for a psychologist to agree to work with someone who has a problem outside of their expertise or someone who has barriers that the psychologist suspects they cannot overcome. When I conclude that I can help someone, I collaborate with them while applying the most appropriate methods for their problems. I choose these methods from among the many I have studied or developed. This is sometimes called a Transdiagnostic Integrative technique. Here, a clinical label or diagnosis is less important than the unique collection of symptoms a person is living with. I also make sure that I come to understand the client's point of view, how their adversities, their personal philosophy, and their level of suffering combine to lead to their anxiety, depressed mood, or even anger. When the client agrees, I prefer to use psychological testing to be sure my assessment of the client's situation is supported by the best available science. When I conduct psychotherapy, I know it can only be effective when I view the client as presenting many intricate problems that must be fully understood, so each client's issues are approached as scientific hypotheses that guide therapy, which guide my specific interventions, but is always open to revision as new life history information or psychological data becomes available. Since I have trained numerous therapists and continue researching and publishing in the field, my clients are assured they receiving the most effective evidence-based interventions. If you do see me, you can be confident that you will be unconditionally accepted in a safe and comfortable therapeutic relationship with every effort being made to help you.
