I am a Registered Social Worker (MSW, RSW) with more than three decades of experience supporting survivors of intimate partner violence, abuse, and complex trauma. I offer warm, authentic, and anti-oppressive therapy for adults, teens, and youth navigating trauma, anxiety, stress, and the long effects of childhood or relational harm. My work is informed by CBT, Narrative Therapy, DBT, EFT, IFS, and Motivational Interviewing, and I take care to find the approach that fits each client. North Star Therapy-- Cleo Haber

Registered Social Worker, BSW, MSW, RSW
Welcome! At North Star Therapy, empathy and understanding is central to our practice. We know reaching out for help is a courageous step, and we approach every client with respect, compassion, and an open mind. We strive to create a non-judgmental environment where you will feel heard and validated, fostering a sense of trust that is essential for the therapeutic journey. We are dedicated to creating a safe and supportive space where you can explore, understand, and navigate the complexities of your life and work towards meaningful change. We are here to help. Let's talk about how to get started living the life you want. Our clients bring a range of concerns to therapy, including relationship issues, parenting, sexual and gender identity, trauma, grief, anger, depression, anxiety, racism and other inequalities, intergenerational trauma, body image, work/career goals, feeling "stuck," and finding meaning in life. If any of these concerns feel familiar, or if you have any other issues you'd like to unpack, don't hesitate to reach out. We look forward to exploring how we might work together.

Jola Mecani, Registered Social Worker in Pickering, ON

Jola Mecani

Registered Social Worker, MSW, RSW, MPP, BA
Therapy with me is about more than finding ways to cope with what you're feeling. I'm interested in understanding the patterns underneath, how you learned to protect yourself, what happens when you feel hurt or disconnected, and what your emotions may be trying to communicate. I bring warmth, curiosity and honesty into the therapy room, while also being an active and engaged therapist. I won't simply sit back and listen; I'll help you slow things down, notice what is happening beneath the surface, and make connections that may be difficult to see when you're in the middle of it. Whether you're coming on your own or with your partner, you don't need to arrive knowing exactly what needs to change. We can figure that out together.

Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Gestalt Psychotherapist Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Gottman Trained Couples Therapist
As a gestalt psychotherapist, who pairs gestalt training with somatic experiencing I can help support you in healing from your trauma. No one in the Niagara Region utilizes the combination of these therapies and applies them to working with couples in crisis. Gottman (couples) and Post Induction Therapy training (relational/developmental trauma) I am sorry to say but popular approaches to healing trauma like CBT will provide only temporary relief at best. If you want to get to the root of your trauma and heal somatic experiencing (SE) is what you need and when supported with the power of relational gestalt therapy you will shift your shit! SE focuses on regulating your nervous system. With SE work trauma responses are completed and energy is released back into the system and with this the resolution and disappearance of physical complaints, including headaches, digestive problems, and pain syndromes can be resolved, and emotional regulation can be restored. I will teach you how to work with your stress response - the body's innate alarm system in response to a perceived danger, also called the "Fight or Flight" response. It is highly adaptive to danger and human survival when threats are physical, but less so when threats are psychological, or imaginary, among other somatic and relational skills. I have been trained under Dr Abi Blakeslee part of Dr Peter A Levine's legacy group out of California for Somatic Experiencing and the late great Dr Bud Feder the author of Beyond the Hot Seat was on my dissertation committee overseeing a phenomenological study of the effectiveness of a gestalt therapy group I created to reduce stress in working informal caregivers of the elderly. I named the group process Stressed WOW (We Overloaded with Work). Gestalt therapy is an extremely complex psychotherapy, too complex to describe in this short space. The power of its effectiveness can only be experienced. Most present day therapies have stolen bits and pieces of its praxis. Get the whole again with a holistic, here and now, experiential therapy. I am here for you... I've got your six!

Jessie Erb

Registered Psychotherapist, DPsychotherapy
I work from a Relational Psychodynamic and Integrative framework, making sure that we find a therapeutic framework that fits you and your unique needs. I am warm, empathic, and non-judgmental - providing an environment that is safe so that you can explore all concerns and distress that have brought you to therapy. I believe that anyone, regardless of class, sexuality, gender, race/ethinicity is valuable and deserves the best care I can give them. I would be honoured to work with you!
