Borderline Personality Disorder

Azin Heydari

Registered Psychotherapist, Registered Psychotherapist
One of the most stigmatizing disorders, one that many will not understand unless they themselves live with it. As a clinician with BPD, I know the day-to-day challenges of the disorder both personally and academically. I do not believe in using solely top down approaches like DBT since BPD is a list of symptoms rooted in early childhood traumatic experiences/ events which we then build strategies to avoid in the future for survival. However, although this may initially be helpful, overtime it becomes more damaging than good and in order to change these reactions we have to first befriend and understand why it exists within us. This reduces the shame and guilt and empowers us to make the changes we envision with a thorough understanding of the self.

Clayre Sessoms Psychotherapy

Registered Psychotherapist, RP, RCT, RCC, CCC, ATR-P
At Clayre Sessoms Psychotherapy, we offer specialized support for individuals grappling with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) and dissociative symptoms often associated with BPD or Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD). Our therapeutic approach is deeply rooted in relational dynamics, drawing from attachment theory, and somatic practices to address the complexities of these conditions. For individuals with BPD, we understand the challenges of managing intense emotions, unstable relationships, and difficulties with self-identity. Our relational-focused therapy places a strong emphasis on building a secure therapeutic alliance, fostering a safe and trusting space where clients can explore their emotions, thoughts, and relational patterns without judgment. Dissociation, a common feature of BPD and C-PTSD, can present significant barriers to self-awareness and emotional regulation. Through somatic therapy techniques, we help clients reconnect with their bodies, facilitating a deeper understanding of how trauma is held on a physiological level. By incorporating somatic interventions, we aim to support individuals in regulating their nervous systems, grounding themselves in the present moment, and developing a greater sense of coherence and embodiment. Our integrative approach blends relational attunement with somatic interventions to address the intersecting challenges of BPD and dissociation. By exploring the underlying attachment patterns and body-based responses, we collaborate with clients to navigate the complexities of emotional dysregulation and dissociative experiences. Through a compassionate and holistic framework, we work towards enhancing self-awareness, fostering emotional resilience, and promoting long-lasting healing and growth. Our goal is to provide a supportive and affirming space where individuals with BPD and dissociation can find understanding, acceptance, and transformative healing. We are dedicated to supporting our clients on their journey towards reclaiming agency, restoring inner balance, and cultivating a greater sense of wholeness and well-being.
