Speaking openly about sexual habits, desires, and relationships can be awkward for patients. However, I believe that open dialogue about these topics are important and normal in the therapeutic space. I do my best to make these topics as painless and natural to speak about as possible. Having a graduate certificate in LGBT Health and Policy guides many of my interventions and thoughts about sex and relationships. All I ask is that my patients come with open minds and a willingness to discuss these sometimes challenging topics. We live in a culture that is deeply oppressed around topics of sex, desires, and fetishes. It is my goal to change this by allowing patients to come as they are and speak openly to me about their feelings. Open relationships, polyamory, and ethical non-monogamy have become hot-button topics, but can be deeply misunderstood, and are often viewed as taboo. I understand that not all relationships look the same, and that not all people want the same things. Families look different, and that is something to be celebrated. I am actively staying abreast of the most current research on these topics so that I can help you to navigate their stigma while maintaining the happy, healthy bonds you have with your partners.

Sex coaching/therapy/education can be a hornets nest. I have been actively in the sex positive community for the last 15 years. Much of our programming around sex has to do with our upbringing with parents, religion, culture, and education or lack there of. And to make matters more confusing, most of the charge we get from sex and fantasies is in our head and thoughts, not our genitals. I concentrate on safe and consensual sex first and foremost and not assumptions based upon my beliefs and practices. To understand sex fully it is necessary to look at it from a sexual energy perspective since sex can cause procreation, and, if used channeled responsibly, other manifestations. Since talking about sex is frequently taboo, I have found that most people do not know much about sex, sexual energy, lovemaking, fetishes, and kinks. Some people have so much shame and guilt from religion that they cannot even talk to their partner(s) about it. In sex therapy I bring all the aspects of sex and sexual energy to the table to discuss and explore without shame and guilt.
