Anxiety and Fears are based in the stories we tell ourselves. Each can develop throughout our lives in many different ways. My experience with clients has been that anxiety is steaming from previous traumatic experiences. These experiences can be childhood abuse or neglect, being bullied at school, to name a few. Or simply from a negative experience that becomes a story we continue to tell ourselves and believe. My role is to listen and allow the story to unfold over time. I understand takes time to trust a therapist. And it takes time to tell your story. I enjoy adding Expressive Arts to the process because it tells so much nonverbally. There has been times where it uncovered issues the clients never thought about or shared. I have discovered through my own work and working with clients that it can connect us to our inner self that is full of the insight we need to heal.
