How we think and feel about ourselves drives many of our behaviours and interactions with others, and often determines our internal motivation and sense of control. Working on self esteem through understanding contributing factors throughout our development can revolutionise our sense of self, allowing barriers to achievement to be minimised and helping to create a purposeful and rewarding internal world that matches what may be acted out externally, leading to authentic self-esteem that contributes to happiness and satisfaction.

Dr Shikha Gray
Psychologist, PhD, MPsych(Couns)
Struggles with self-esteem often stem from past experiences that have shaped how we see ourselves and our place in the world. In therapy, we might delve into the roots of your self-doubt, examining past relationships and the narratives you’ve internalised over time. Through this process, my hope is that you develop a more profound self-awareness and cultivate an authentic and fulfilling life unobstructed by low self-esteem.

Brett Hall
Registered Psychotherapist, Bsc - PSYCH/Neuro, Grad. Dip Gestalt
Feeling 'not good enough' can be like carrying around a ten tonne backpack. In my experience, the best help i received from having low self esteem was understanding that it comes from beliefs that i carry, that didn't come from me, that just aren't true. Working together on these beliefs to unpack them, understand them, and dissolve them will start to make that backpack feel more and more empty. Our work will address the roots of these beliefs, in your body as they present in real time. From there we can gain insight as to how those beliefs feed low self esteem, ultimately freeing you up to create different beliefs that are actually tell the truth about who you are.

We all have times in our life where we have a low opinion of ourselves, not believing in our self-worth. This drop in confidence can be caused by many different factors. Gaye Mallinson - Somatic Psychotherapies
Counsellor/Therapist, B.Soc.Ser. (Couns), Dip. Couns, Trauma Informed Yoga Cert, Pranayama Cert, Nidra Cert
I work primarily from a Rogerian or Person-Centred Therapy (PCT) approach using a conversational style listening patiently to you, always with empathy, genuineness and without judgement, to help find the solutions you desire for your life whilst adjusting my techniques to fit your needs within each session.
Low self esteem affects healthy, confident interaction with others and leads to isolation and loneliness. It affects our ability to communicate effectively and assertively about our wants and needs, which creates an inevitable feeling of being 'walked over' by others. I am able to utilise a psycho-educational approach to help you understand your inner feelings and experiences, and to learn practical strategies for more confident and assertive communications skills, along with learning to appreciate yourself more and learn self compassion. I am able to utilise specific somatic (mind/body) therapy techniques within the therapy session to support greater healing of the underlying and often subconscious cause. These gentle but effective techniques create a new positive sense of self.
My aim is to assist you with your life difficulties from poor self esteem to restore balance, happiness and inner peace with various techniques of 'talk therapy' and somatic (mind/body) healing methods, along with offering practical strategies that may be useful where suitable and desired by you. Whatever you are going through, know that there is hope - Let me help you find that hope.

Mairead Cleary
Registered Psychotherapist, Masters in Gestalt Therapy
When our self-esteem is low it can feel like everyone else in the world is 'getting it' but us. To my mind, low self-esteem, self-judgement, shame and isolation all co-exist cosily together and create fertile ground for each other. Because self-judgement will undermine our self-esteem, and lead to us feeling ashamed of ourselves. This happy combination then naturally leads us to draw inwards, away from the gaze of the world around us, and into isolation where nobody can see how 'worthless' we are (or believe ourselves to be).
Addressing this inner critic or inner judge is one of the keys to reclaiming our self-esteem.
