I work with young adults and adults who feel overwhelmed, overextended, and stuck in patterns they can’t think their way out of. Often, they’re still keeping life moving on the outside. Many of my clients are high‑functioning and responsible, while privately feeling depleted, anxious, or shut down. Therapy offers a place to slow down, notice what’s happening in your body and mind, and begin shifting toward a life that feels more like your own, including how you relate to yourself and others. My style is clear, thoughtful, and deeply attuned.

Treatment Approach

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) Combines CBT with mindfulness to help regulate emotions, tolerate stress, and build stronger relationships. Originally designed for borderline personality disorder, it’s now used more broadly.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: Therapy is shaped around what you are facing and what you hope might feel different. Many people arrive knowing something needs to change, but feeling unsure where to begin. Often they look like they are managing well from the outside while holding a great deal internally. This is common in seasons of first jobs or early careers, changing relationship roles, or trying to understand what you actually want your life to look like. We start by making room for what you have been navigating on your own and noticing what it is like to receive support instead of managing everything yourself. Change often happens in relationship, in the experience of being met and understood. I pay close attention to what is happening in your life and how you are experiencing it, including patterns that once helped you cope and now feel tight or exhausting. We might look at what feels most present and painful: the impact of stress or loss, confusion or conflict in relationships, questions about identity and direction, major transitions in work or family life, and long‑standing expectations that have asked more of you than your internal resources can sustain. My approach is grounded in depth‑oriented and behavioral therapies and is shaped to fit who you are. In sessions, we may notice how emotion and stress show up in your body, understand the feelings beneath your reactions, and explore the relationships and histories that have shaped you. I do not promise a life without problems. What often shifts is your sense of yourself, your capacity to meet what comes, and the possibility of living in a way that feels more like you.

Dr. Elizabeth Coldren Practice Description
bring more than thirty years of experience supporting high‑functioning young adults and adults who carry significant responsibilities in their work, families, or communities. Many of the people I work with are in transition in some way—juggling school and work, careers and caregiving, or shifting family roles—while staying in motion and showing up for others, even when their internal world feels strained, tense, or disconnected. Therapy offers a place to slow down, understand what you have been carrying, often quietly for a long time, and consider what might need to shift. Together, we focus on your inner world: how you’re coping, what you’re longing for, and how to move toward a life that feels more like your own. My Denver office is intentionally private: you are the only client in the building during your appointment, with no shared waiting room or overlapping sessions. I offer in‑person sessions in Denver and online therapy for residents of PSYPACT states nationwide. // I have been working with estranged and cut‑off family relationships for more than twenty‑five years, long before this was commonly named “estrangement.” I offer this work online to adult children (typically in their 20s and 30s) and to their parents in PSYPACT states who want support in understanding each other, clarifying what has happened, or exploring whether repair is possible. These conversations are approached with care, respect for each person’s emotional capacity, and close attention to the long histories that shape family roles and patterns. // Whether we meet in person in Denver or online, we work together to move toward a life that feels more aligned, spacious, and genuinely your own.
