Louise Perry (She/Her)

Registered Psychotherapist, IFS UKCP HCCP
I've spent over thirty years helping people make sense of complexity. Today I work as an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist and Internal Family Systems (IFS) practitioner, helping people make the invisible visible. Whether someone comes because they're anxious, overwhelmed, caught in painful relationship patterns or simply feels stuck, I'm interested in helping them understand themselves more clearly by noticing the patterns they couldn't previously see. Before retraining as a psychotherapist, I spent many years in design and technology. That background continues to shape how I work. I'm naturally curious about patterns, systems and the relationships between different parts of a person's life. Sometimes we simply talk. Sometimes images, objects or simple creative materials help make sense of experiences that words alone can't fully describe. There is never any expectation to be artistic. I work in an active, collaborative way. I won't rush you towards solutions, but neither will I sit back and simply listen. Together we'll become curious about what's happening beneath the surface so that, once those patterns become visible, different choices become possible.

Treatment Approach

  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Transactional Analysis Explores interactions through the lens of Parent, Adult, and Child roles. It aims to improve communication and self-awareness.
Approach Description: Therapy with me is collaborative. I don't sit back and simply listen, nor do I rush to offer advice. Instead, we become curious together about what might be shaping your thoughts, feelings and relationships. I'm interested in helping people notice the patterns they couldn't previously see. Sometimes that happens through conversation. Sometimes drawing, metaphor or simple creative materials make something visible that words alone haven't quite reached. There is never any expectation to be artistic. My work is informed by Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Integrative Arts Psychotherapy, but you don't need any prior knowledge of either. What matters is finding an approach that helps you understand yourself more clearly and gives you more choice in how you respond to life's challenges. An initial consultation gives us both the opportunity to see how it feels to work together and whether I'm the right therapist for you.

Therapy Sessions Louise Perry Practice Description
I work from two rooms near Regent's Park in Central London because not everything can be thought about in the same way. One is a traditional therapy room where we simply talk. The other is a larger creative space where drawing, objects and simple materials can sometimes help make sense of experiences that are difficult to put into words.
