I’m a licensed, doctoral-level, PSYPACT-certified Clinical Psychologist who works thoughtfully and collaboratively with adults of all ages. My goal is to help you build greater insight into yourself and your relationships, connect past experiences with the present, and move through the internal barriers that may be keeping you from a deeper sense of well-being and satisfaction in life. After over a decade of practice in New York City, I’ve developed a particular understanding of individuals who are high-achieving yet often hard on themselves — people who appear to have it all together, but feel anxious, self-critical, or stuck beneath the surface. I work best with individuals who are curious about understanding themselves more deeply — those who may be thriving externally yet long for greater ease, meaning, and self-compassion. Together, we’ll create a space where you can be heard, understood, and supported as you explore the roots of how you think, feel, and relate to others. Feel free to reach out for a complementary 15-minute consultation if you think I might be the right therapist for you.

Treatment Approach

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
Approach Description: Dr. Richards believes effective therapy is not about quick fixes, but about dedicated work that fosters genuine change. Her therapeutic style is flexible, warm, and thoughtfully attuned to the unique needs and strengths of each individual. Grounded in a psychodynamic approach, Dr. Richards helps patients uncover patterns and emotions that shape their current experiences. When helpful, she integrates cognitive-behavioral techniques to provide practical tools for managing symptoms and improving day-to-day functioning. This integrative balance allows therapy to be both deeply reflective and actively growth-oriented. Dr. Richards views her role not as giving advice or directing decisions, but as helping patients connect more deeply with their inner experiences, needs, and desires so that they are better equipped to autonomously shape the life they want for themselves. Her goal is to foster a sense of empowerment, emotional balance, and a stronger sense of agency — leading to a more grounded and authentic way of living.
