Approach Description: I embrace a heart-centered and compassionate approach. I firmly believe that establishing trust and safety within the therapy space is the first step for processing original wounds and trauma. True healing happens when individuals feel genuinely seen and heard. I prioritize providing a space where clients can experience attunement that has often not been received out in the world and in daily life. Utilizing psychodynamic therapy, we explore relationship patterns, including those originating from family dynamics, to foster a deeper understanding of yourself and interpersonal connections. I use EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) for trauma (including childhood or developmental trauma) to help alleviate distressing trauma responses, anxiety, and negative core beliefs. I hold certification in Pain Reprocessing Therapy, which is a mind-body approach to transform the relationship with chronic pain and anxiety. Drawing from my extensive experience in various levels of treatment care, I specialize in assisting individuals facing substance use challenges. In my practice, I integrate somatic and mindfulness practices as needed, promoting a deeper connection between the mind and body. This self-attunement helps improve mood, supports regulation of the nervous system, and helps to process unresolved trauma.

Elaine Skoulas Practice Description
People will often seek therapy when surviving some of the most challenging times in their life. I believe in uncovering your inner strengths to build on resources you already have. I work with a compassionate and collaborative practice to help best fit your goals and needs for therapy. Clients who get the most out of therapy with me are often motivated, curious, and sensitive individuals who have a strong desire to work on their personal growth. I’m most inspired by the humans that I work with every day that show tremendous resilience and resourcefulness with life’s challenges.
