Ferzana Jamani (She/Her)

Counselor/Therapist, BA, RTC
I want you to know me beyond my credentials. I grew up feeling invisible and inadequate, struggling with anxiety and low mood, and limiting beliefs that tainted my relationships. It took volunteering and self-reflection to recognize my own worth and seek help. It was a journey of healing for me too, as I confronted my insecurities and found connection and purpose and my dedication in serving others. Now, as a Registered Therapeutic Counsellor, I’m committed to guiding you with care and compassion. Therapy with me consists of transpersonal and somatic techniques focusing on your growth, emotional experiences and connecting your body and mind. Together we will explore your inner emotional experiences to help you repair the pain you have experienced and support you in feeling seen, heard and ultimately thrive, honouring your pace and vulnerabilities every step of the way. I offer personalized sessions to address your unique needs, fostering insight and resilience. In a safe and supportive space, I provide active listening and empathy to build trust. Equipping you with tools for stress management, communication, and self-esteem, we navigate challenges together. Treatment Approach

  • Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) Trauma-informed therapy that helps individuals explore deeply held, painful emotional experiences within a safe, attuned therapeutic relationship.
  • Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) A trauma-focused therapy that uses eye movements and imagery to help the brain reframe distressing memories. It often leads to quicker relief from symptoms compared to traditional talk therapy.
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) One of the most widely used approaches, CBT helps people identify unhelpful thoughts and replace them with healthier patterns. It is effective for anxiety, depression, and many other concerns.
  • Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT) Builds skills in self-kindness and compassion toward others. It is especially helpful for people who struggle with shame or self-criticism.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychoanalytic Therapy Based on Freud’s theories, it explores unconscious conflicts and past experiences. It seeks to bring hidden issues into awareness.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
  • Transpersonal Therapy Integrates spirituality and higher states of consciousness with psychology. It encourages growth beyond the individual self.
Approach Description: We all deal with trauma and have repressed emotions despite where we come from. During our sessions, I will use a Person-Centered and Trauma-Informed approach, Family Systems Theory and Somatic Body techniques to support you in creating a plan that will help you in releasing these difficult repressed emotions from your body and to feel more connected to yourself and others and feel seen and heard. My focus is on individual and family relationships, anti-oppression, intergenerational and racial trauma, limiting self beliefs, anxiety, feminist perspectives, and mental health and substance use disorders.
