Louise Perry (She/Her)

Registered Psychotherapist, IFS UKCP HCCP BAAT
I work as an integrative art psychotherapist and IFS practitioner, offering a thoughtful and collaborative way of working. Therapy with me doesn’t need to involve art unless it feels useful; some sessions focus on conversation, while others may use images, objects, or simple creative materials to explore experiences that are difficult to put into words. Before training as a psychotherapist, I spent many years working in design and technology. That background continues to shape how I work – I’m interested in patterns, systems, and how different parts interact, both internally and in our wider lives. My decision to retrain grew out of lived experience as well as professional curiosity, and I bring both into the therapy room. I work in an engaged, grounded way, staying close to what matters and adjusting pace as needed. Clients often come to me when they want to understand themselves more clearly, work with complexity rather than bypass it, and make changes that feel considered and sustainable.

Treatment Approach

  • Art Therapy Uses creative activities like drawing, painting, or sculpture as a way to express emotions. It is especially helpful when words are hard to find.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Gestalt Therapy Encourages awareness of thoughts, feelings, and actions in the present moment. It helps people integrate different parts of themselves for wholeness.
  • Integrative Therapy Combines techniques from multiple approaches into a customized plan. It adapts to each client’s unique situation and needs.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Transactional Analysis Explores interactions through the lens of Parent, Adult, and Child roles. It aims to improve communication and self-awareness.
Approach Description: Therapy with me is an active, engaged conversation. I listen carefully, reflect what I notice, and work with you to make sense of what’s happening rather than staying neutral or distant. I’m interested in patterns, meaning, and how different aspects of experience interact. My work draws on Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Art Psychotherapy, though you don’t need to be familiar with either. Sessions may focus on conversation, creative exploration, or a combination of both, depending on what feels most useful. We work at a considered pace, allowing understanding to develop rather than rushing toward solutions. An initial chemistry session offers a chance to see how it feels to work together and whether my approach seems like a good fit.

Louise Perry Practice Details

Therapy Sessions Louise Perry Practice Description
I work from a calm, well-established practice near Regent’s Park in Central London. There are two distinct spaces available: a traditional therapy room for conversation-based sessions, and a larger studio space for those who wish to work more creatively. The studio offers a range of simple materials that can be used as tools for reflection and exploration. Sessions may involve talking, creative work, or a combination of both, depending on what feels most useful. The focus is on working thoughtfully and at a pace that allows patterns, questions, and possibilities to emerge clearly over time.
