I believe we all have the innate ability and strength to grow. For some of us, our life circumstances can temporarily stifle our growth and block our path to self-discovery. We can often use a companion during these challenging times, someone who can shine a light on a dark path that is often lonely to travel solo on.

Madison Chen Practice Description
My role as a therapist is to provide you with a safe space to explore your emotions, thoughts, and troubling experiences. I believe that everyone is strong, resilient, and creative, and we can all strive to be the best version of ourselves. No one is permanently “ill”; we are just temporarily discouraged by our life circumstances and trapped in unhelpful internal and relationship cycles. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, I particularly value working with individuals who feel they don’t quite “fit in.” Throughout the counselling process, we will set goals together, evaluate and adjust interventions together, and assess treatment outcomes collaboratively. My counselling approach is grounded in attachment, and I believe that how we are is strongly impacted by our important relationships, current or past, romantic or not, and especially those in our family of origin. I use a wide array of therapy techniques to support my clients, including emotionally-focused therapy (EFT), person-centred, trauma-informed theories, Internal Family Systems, and somatic approaches.
