Ren Lee (They/Them)

Licensed Clinical Social Worker, LCSW
 therapist: Ren Lee,
Online in New Jersey, New York, Vermont (Online Only)
We live within various systems and institutions that impact how we navigate our lives in relation to each other. My work is grounded in community care, growth, liberation, joy, resilience, healing, and justice. I am here to support you in exploring connections to yourself, your communities, and the world around you. My approach is rooted in liberation, relational, and psychodynamic work through an anti-oppressive lens, and includes modalities such as somatics, narrative therapy, and mindfulness. I am passionate about working with intersectional identities of race, gender, sexuality, and neurodivergence and I find it incredibly fulfilling to continuously build relationships through empathy, curiosity, and compassion.

  • Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT) Helps people accept difficult thoughts and feelings instead of fighting them, while committing to actions that reflect their values. It blends mindfulness with practical behavior strategies.
  • Brainspotting A therapy that uses eye positions to access and process unresolved trauma. It helps release emotional and physical pain held in the body.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Multicultural Therapy Acknowledges the role of culture, race, and identity in mental health. It values diversity and adapts treatment to each person’s background.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Object Relations Therapy Focuses on how early caregiver relationships shape current relationships. It aims to improve patterns of attachment and trust.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychodynamic Therapy Explores unconscious thoughts and patterns that influence current behavior. It builds insight into how the past impacts the present.
  • Relational Psychotherapy Emphasizes the healing power of the therapist-client relationship. It uses trust and safety as a foundation for change.
  • Self Psychology Explores the development of self-esteem and identity. It emphasizes the importance of empathy in healing.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.

Ren Lee Practice Details

Therapy Sessions Ren Lee Practice Description
The trauma we experience can make us feel so disconnected and dissociated while also craving connection and warmth. Through understanding our intersectional identities, we can start to process and unpack the ways we struggle to show up for ourselves and each other. Healing is a process that takes time, authenticity, and gentle care. My experiences and work are shaped by my identities, how I create and sustain joy, and community. My areas of focus include trauma, relationships, life transitions, grief, polyamory/non-monogamy, kink/BDSM, and other alternative lifestyles. I am a queer, trans/nonbinary, neurodivergent, 2nd generation Chinese American. My approach is rooted in liberation and relational work through anti-oppressive and social justice lenses. I draw from modalities such as psychodynamics, somatic work, Brainspotting, narrative therapy, and mindfulness. Please reach out for a free consultation to see if we would be a good fit.
