Shawna Damiani (She/Her)

Licensed Professional Counselor, LPC
 therapist: Shawna Damiani,
Online in Texas (Online Only)
Hi, I'm Shawna. I'm really glad you're here — and I know that finding the right therapist can feel like a lot. My hope is that by the time you finish reading this, you'll have a sense of who I am and whether we might be a good fit. I work with adults who are carrying things that feel heavy — whether that's the weight of past trauma, the complexity of relationships that keep hitting the same walls, or the experience of moving through a world that wasn't quite designed for the way your brain works. I specialize in trauma and PTSD, relationship challenges, and supporting adults with ADHD and autism who are often figuring out a lot about themselves for the first time. A lot of my clients come to me feeling like something is wrong with them. My job — and honestly, my passion — is helping people see that they've been responding to hard things in the most human ways possible. Healing isn't about fixing yourself. It's about understanding yourself. My approach is collaborative and down-to-earth. I'm not going to sit silently and nod — I show up as a real person in the room with you. Therapy with me tends to feel like an honest, sometimes even humorous conversation, grounded in real tools and genuine care. If any of this resonates, I'd love to hear from you. Reaching out is the hardest part — and you've already started.

Treatment Approach

  • Eclectic Therapy Draws from different therapeutic methods based on what fits each client best. It is flexible and personalized rather than following one single model.
  • Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) Focuses on strengthening emotional bonds in couples or families. It helps people identify negative cycles and create more secure connections.
  • Existential / Humanistic Therapy Encourages people to explore meaning, freedom, and authenticity in their lives. It focuses on personal growth and living in alignment with one’s values.
  • Family Systems Therapy Looks at problems within the context of the family as a whole. It aims to improve communication and balance in family relationships.
  • Feminist Therapy Addresses how gender roles, power, and social inequality affect mental health. It empowers clients to challenge limiting beliefs and systems.
  • Gottman Method Couples Therapy Based on decades of research, this method gives couples tools to improve communication, manage conflict, and strengthen intimacy.
  • Internal Family Systems (IFS) Helps clients heal by working with different ‘parts’ of themselves, like inner critics or wounded children. It fosters harmony within the self.
  • Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) Combines mindfulness practices with CBT to prevent depression relapse. It helps people notice thoughts without judgment and respond more calmly.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) A collaborative, client-centered approach that strengthens motivation for change. It is especially effective for addictions and health behaviors.
  • Narrative Therapy Encourages people to view problems as separate from themselves and reframe their life story. It helps build resilience and self-identity.
  • Person-Centered Therapy (Rogerian) Emphasizes empathy, unconditional positive regard, and authenticity. It provides a safe space for self-discovery and growth.
  • Psychoeducational Therapy Provides education and coping tools about mental health conditions. It empowers clients with knowledge and practical skills.
  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Focuses on solutions and future goals rather than past problems. It is practical, short-term, and goal-driven.
  • Somatic Therapy Helps clients notice how emotions are stored in the body. It uses breath, movement, and awareness for healing trauma and stress.
Approach Description: At Love Let Out, there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing. We draw from a range of evidence-based modalities — including Internal Family Systems (IFS), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), somatic therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, the Gottman Method, and narrative therapy — to create a treatment experience that is as unique as the person sitting across from us. What ties our work together isn't a single technique — it's a set of values we bring to every session. We are trauma-informed, which means we understand that behavior always makes sense in context, and we never pathologize what has helped you survive. We are neurodiversity-affirming, recognizing that ADHD and autism are not deficits to be corrected but different ways of moving through the world that deserve understanding and support. We are proudly LGBTQ+ affirming and kink- and ENM-aware, meaning clients in non-traditional relationships — polyamorous, ethically non-monogamous, kink-involved, or otherwise — can expect a clinician who is genuinely knowledgeable, not just tolerant. You won't need to explain or justify your lifestyle. We start from a place of respect. Above all, our approach is person-centered and strengths-based. We believe you are the expert on your own life. Our role is to walk alongside you — offering tools, perspective, and a steady presence — as you find your way back to yourself.

Finances

Fees
  • Average Session Fee 200.00
  • Affordable sliding scale therapy: apply if you may be eligible.
  • At Love Let Out, we believe that financial circumstances should never be the reason someone can't access quality mental health care. That's why we offer a sliding scale fee structure based on your gross household income and the number of dependents in your household — because what therapy costs should reflect what you can actually afford. Here's how it works: when you reach out, we'll have a simple, judgment-free conversation about your household income and the number of people who depend on it. From there, we'll determine a session fee that is fair, transparent, and sustainable for you. Our sliding scale starts at $75 per session, with fees adjusting upward based on your financial picture. There is no shame in asking for a reduced fee. We would rather work with you at a rate that fits your life than have cost be the thing that stands between you and the support you deserve. We are committed to making this process as straightforward and dignified as possible — because coming to therapy is already a brave step, and navigating the finances of it shouldn't feel like another barrier. If you're not sure whether you qualify or what fee might apply to you, just ask. We'll figure it out together.

Shawna Damiani Practice Description
At Love Let Out, we believe that love — in all its forms — deserves a safe place to breathe. We are a therapy practice built for people who don't always fit the mold. Whether you're healing from trauma, navigating the beautiful complexity of non-traditional relationships, or finally getting answers about how your brain works, we offer a space where you are welcomed exactly as you are — no judgment, no assumptions. Our therapists work with individuals and couples across a wide range of experiences, including trauma and PTSD, ADHD and autism in adults, and relationships structured outside of conventional norms — including ethically non-monogamous partnerships, polyamory, kink-aware dynamics, and the swinging community. We understand that your relationship structure is not the problem. We're here to help with the real stuff. We know that walking into therapy — especially as someone with a non-traditional life — can come with a lot of worry about whether your therapist will truly get it. At Love Let Out, you won't spend your sessions educating us or defending your choices. You'll spend them doing the work that actually matters to you. Healing looks different for everyone. We're here to help you find yours.
