Some of the most joyous moments in life also have the potential to be the most painful. The world doesn’t seem fair when some women get pregnant just by looking at their partners, or so it would seem, while others try for months, and then begin to time their cycles, and finally start exploring other options. The infertility journey is long and confusing—full of needle pricks, doctor’s appointments and strange or inappropriate questions from friends and loved ones. And if you’re part of a queer couple, you can multiply those strange and inappropriate questions by a factor of two, or maybe three. But then it happens, you get the news: X number of healthy embryos. Yay! Except they are all boys, you really wanted a girl, but that’s okay, you just want a healthy baby. But then, your first implantation doesn’t take. So you have to try again. Success! At least at first. Miscarriages are also an all too common, intensely painful part of this process. It starts to feel like your body is betraying you. Or what if you don’t have all of the necessary parts to carry the child and you need to use a surrogate? The first one doesn’t work out, and the second one doesn’t pass psychological testing and number three, well, unfortunately after three unsuccessful tries, it’s time to look for number four. When will it end? And when will it be your turn for a healthy baby? Therapeutic support from someone who understands the process can help you feel less alone as you navigate the decisions, the ups and downs, and the journey to becoming your own self-educated endocrinologist (kidding, sort of…).

As an adoptive parent and professional I particularly enjoy working with parents as they navigate the adoption process. I work with parents both at pre and post placement on the many complex issues associated with adoption. I also work with many later in life parents and am familiar with the many challenges and unique ways that families are often formed at this stage of life. I help individuals manage the stressors of infertility by using an integrative approach using narrative, dynamic, relational, and attachment informed therapy. We work together to manage the feelings that can come with being in a process that can be challenging, uncertain, and open-ended. We build skills to manage uncertainty, anxieties, and isolation, and create safe containers for hope and emotional support, both in therapy and in relationships outside of therapy. Psychologist, PhD
I work closely with individuals and couples navigating infertility and the many paths to building a family, including adoption and assisted reproduction. These experiences often bring a unique mix of grief, uncertainty, hope, and pressure, and I provide both therapeutic support and practical guidance throughout the process. In addition to therapy, I offer psychoeducation to help clients better understand and manage the emotional aspects of family building, as well as comprehensive psychological evaluations required for adoption, surrogacy, and donor-related processes. I understand how time-sensitive these steps can be, and—based on both my professional experience and personal understanding—I prioritize these appointments, offering a quick turnaround and minimal wait whenever possible. My goal is to provide a steady, informed, and compassionate presence during what can be an intensely emotional journey, helping clients move forward with clarity, resilience, and confidence.

It's a particular kind of grief, longing for a family and perhaps experiencing many losses along the way. I'm here as a steady presence as you figure out what you need most in the life you are building.
